People, of all ages, enjoy socializing with other Internet users. Aside from the fact that people of all ages use the internet to socialize with people, there are certain groups of people who do more than others. Those groups of people include students, both high school students and college students. For that reason, it is only appropriate to have a social networking site that focuses on these specific people. That social networking site is known as Facebook.
Facebook may not be as well known as other popular social networking sites, such as Yahoo! 360 or MySpace, but still popular. That reputation is between high school students and college students, especially since Facebook is so focused on these people. With Facebook, you need to sign up for a specific network. That network may include the high school or college you attend or are currently attending. Once you join a website, you should be able to easily connect with others on the same network.
The network you are joining can be considered a benefit of Facebook, as well as the disadvantages. See, Facebook does not work like most other social networking websites. Instead of being able to communicate with all members of the site, you are limited in contact with those in your specific network, high school or college of your choice. The creators of Facebook say this is for your safety. While it is more secure for your profile and personal information to be viewed by a smaller number of people, you may not need to be that way.
While a large amount of focus is placed on high school students and college students, Facebook has added another popular feature to their website. That feature networks are at work. By joining a specific workplace network, you will be given access to other community members who work for the same company as you. This feature is good, especially as more and more companies are becoming big or growing nationwide. You may be able to communicate and be friends with a long-distance worker you did not know you had.
Another feature of Facebook that you may find inaccurate is their lack of available information, before you decide to become a member of the public. If you look at their website online, which can be found at www.facebook.com, it is hard to say whether the site is free to use or not. Many online social networking sites will do this beforehand, but Facebook does not. Apart from the price, you should be able to easily find more information on Facebook, before making the decision to become a member. This additional information may include how Facebook operates, why you should be a member, how the invitation process works, and the general rules and restrictions that apply.
If you are interested in joining the Facebook community, you should do what you have to do with all other social networking websites, research. By taking the time to research and evaluate everything that Facebook offers, you should be able to determine if this popular network community is what you wanted or not. There is a good chance it will happen, but if not, don't worry. There are an unlimited number of other social networking sites you can join.
