May Elon Musk is bringing a smartphone
Technology entrepreneur Elon Musk is bringing a smartphone to compete with the American technology giant Apple's iPhone or Google's Android. Recently, in a tweet, Elon announced the news of bringing the phone to the market. He said, if necessary, he will create alternatives for iPhone and Android. Now Android and iPhone users have to download Twitter app from Play Store and App Store. But if Twitter is banned from these two platforms, Elon Musk has said that he will make an alternative phone himself.
At the moment, Google's Android and Apple's iOS operating systems occupy a large part of the world's smartphone market. For almost a decade and a half, these operating systems have been updated one after another. But developers have to pay around 30 percent commission to Apple and Google if they sell apps from App Store and Play Store. Elon termed this additional fee as the hidden tax of the Internet.
Apple and Google are deducting from Elon Musk a portion of the money charged to customers for Twitter subscriptions. What the world's richest people cannot accept? For this reason, Elon wants to face tough competition from these tech giants by launching a new operating system phone. There is no word on what specifications Elon Musk's phone will have.
Elon Musk finally bought the social media company Twitter for 44 billion dollars, after much hesitation.
After taking ownership, Musk tweeted, "The bird is free." Twitter's symbol is a bird.
Elon Musk himself will now take the chief executive position of the company, according to various reports in the US media.
Months of legal wrangling preceded the acquisition of Twitter. But now the question arises, how Elon Musk will run this highly influential social media platform.
Mr. Musk, who describes himself as a supporter of "100% freedom of speech," has been critical of Twitter's management and moderation policies.
Elon Musk also had many disputes with the former owners over the terms of the purchase. His complaint was that he was not given the actual number of Twitter users.
He also said he would bring back many users who were banned by Twitter.
It is believed that former US President Donald Trump, who was banned after the Capitol Hill riots in January 2021, may also return to Twitter. Mr. Musk thinks, Banning Trump like this is "stupid".
Some media reports suggest that Twitter may be lying off a lot of staff, not just senior executives. There are also rumors that 75 percent of the workers may lose their jobs.
But a large shareholder in Twitter and Tesla, another of Elon Musk's companies, told the BBC he didn't think Twitter had a lot of talented workers it had any plans to lay off.
Can he really make an alternative phone?
Of course, he can. However, one can argue that you can do anything you want, including make a “volition” phone, If you're the world’s richest man and have billions lying around. But will he really do it and make it work? We won’t be holding our breath over it. The idea itself doesn’t sound too radical, but actually doing it and making it work will be far too delicate. Still, there can be a many workarounds that Musk and Twitter can follow to avoid paying Apple and Google. But it remains to be seen, how Musk deals with it as chances are the two tech titans won’t disclaimer from their App Store programs indeed if the world’s richest man ‘threatens’ to make an alternative phone.
