WHY DRUG USERS ARE ALWAYS USERS? 

Drugs are those chemical substances that can change your body and mind how they work. Drugs include medicines, alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs. Usage of drugs is dangerous. It can harm your body, even your brain, and sometimes blockade permanently. It hurts the people that are around you, including friends, even kids, etc. 

What about drug addiction? 

It is a chronic brain disease. Despite the harm the drugs cause, addiction causes a person to take drugs repeatedly. Drug addiction is a relapsing disease, meaning the people at recovery time have also chances to take drugs, even after years of not taking them. 

Signs of drug addiction. 

Spending a lot of time alone. 

No interest in favorite things. 

No keen interest in themselves. 

Always being tired and sad. 

Sleeping at strange hours. 

Always having problems with friends, colleagues at work or in school. 

Having personal problems with family, relatives, etc. Drug use can have significant and damaging short-term and long-term effects. Taking some drugs can be particularly risky, especially if you take high doses or combine them with other drugs or alcohol. The best way to prevent an addiction to a drug is not to take the drug at all. If your doctor prescribes a drug with the potential for addiction, use care when taking the drug and follow the instructions provided by your doctor.                   

                   Islam on drugs and alcohol. 

Being a Muslim, a Muslim must clear the points about drugs and alcohol, what Islam says about such intoxicants. Islam has principles that restrict the use of harmful substances in the body. Rates of drug and alcohol in Islamic groups are often lower than in other groups. The Quran is the holy book of Islam and provides harm-reducing scriptures for followers. There is immense wisdom in everything that Allah commands, as the shariah seeks to maximize the benefit to humanity and minimize potential harm. 

Role of Parents in preventing the usage of drugs 

Allah commands us to play a protective role for our children: O you who believe, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, overseen by formidable and severe angels, who never disobey whatever Allah orders—always doing as commanded. 

This is further emphasized by the saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock. The Amir, (ruler) who is over the people is a shepherd, and, is responsible for his flock; a man is a shepherd in charge of the inhabitants of his household, and, he is responsible for his flock; a woman is a shepherdess in charge of her husband’s house, and, children, and, she is responsible for them, and, a man’s slave is a shepherd in charge of his master’s property, and, he is responsible for it. So each of you is a shepherd, and, each of you is responsible for his flock. 

          Just saying no is not enough.

Yusuf reported: Aisha, May Allah be pleased with her, said, “Verily, the first verses to be revealed were from the shorter chapters at the end of the Quran. In them is mentioned Paradise and Hellfire, until people were firmly established upon Islam, and, verses of lawful and unlawful were revealed. If, the first verse to be revealed was ‘do not drink wine,’ they would have said, ‘we will never stop drinking wine.’ And if the first verse to be revealed was ‘do not commit adultery,’ they would have said, ‘we will never stop committing adultery.
