Why does the ratio of females remain scant in Corporate work?

Equality, right to freedom for expressing and choosing for themselves are the most common hashtags in present Indian society. Both the sexes to be given an equal chance in every field is the popular agenda. Though all this awareness exists, it is seen that the ratio of working women remains about half that of men. The desire of females not to opt for such field jobs are often regarded as the reason for such case though the underlying causes of the choices are shadowed. Corporate offices are totally management-based work where the work-life balance declines. Women often find this as an impossible barrier to cross with society’s mentality. 9 to 5 jobs with extra working hours is the first reason for such a wide gap; people reserve the tag of an imperfect female for giving more time to the profession. Less duration of maternity leave, which is only 6 months, and paternity leave of 5 days, is another cause that results in low join-in for management jobs after motherhood as there are nil adjustments for caretaking in offices.

The reason women opting for jobs other than incorporate work may also be due to relatively low pay scales compared to other jobs in the science field such as nursing, researcher, etc. The gender gap is worse than the global average; the structural barrier pushes towards unpaid caretaking work than paid career-building employment, but this gap can be narrowed if the jobs provide a positive environment to female workers. This could be started by building spaces for the caretaking of infants, equal work-life balance, and spreading awareness Equality, right to freedom for expressing and choosing for themselves are the most common hashtags in present Indian society.
