Once upon a time there was a king. The king was very kind and a lover of the people. One day, when the king came out of the palace at midnight, he was surprised to see that even in the fierce cold, a watchman was standing on duty dressed in thin clothes. He called the guard near him and asked, don't you feel cold? The watchman said very humbly, O great king! I feel cold, but I am very poor, so I cannot buy thick clothes. I have been doing my duty in these clothes for the last few years. The king was very kind, so he said, I will send warm clothes for you from the palace right now.
The king went to his palace and got busy with other work and forgot this promise. But a hope had awakened in the mind of that watchman. He kept waiting impatiently for warm clothes. As the night was passing, he was feeling more and more cold. In the morning, the king got the news that one of your guards had died. Everyone was saying that it died due to severe cold. The king was very sad for not being able to fulfill his promise. And it was a big surprise that why the person who used to spend cold nights in these clothes for years could not bear the cold even for a single night?
Friends ! Do you think the watchman died of cold? Not ! No !! The person who used to spend cold nights in these clothes for many years, how can he suddenly die of cold today? Actually, he died because of the loss of hope. When the hope of getting warm clothes arose in his mind, he started feeling more cold. As the night passed his hope was breaking and his strength to bear the cold started weakening and in the end he died.
This is what happens in life. Don't know how many expectations we put on our family members, relatives, friends and other people. And when our hopes are shattered, we ourselves begin to shatter. Then life gives only sorrow. If we really want to be happy, then we should not expect anything from anyone. When there will be no expectation from anyone, then whether someone does something or does not do anything, we will not feel any sorrow. There are two advantages of not expecting from a person. Firstly, if that person is not able to do something good for us, then we will not feel sad, because we did not expect anything good from him. And the second advantage would be that if that person does even a little good for us, we will be more happy because we did not expect it to be good. The great sages of India have said that if you want to have hope, then do it with yourself and do it with your God. Man is just an effigy made by God, it is not fair to expect from him. And if you expect from mannequins, then be ready to break.
If you don't want any sorrow in life, only and only want happiness, then stop expecting from anyone other than yourself. Expectations make a person weak. Expectations take away the strength to endure from us. And then we drown in the ocean of sorrow.
I hope you will also stop expecting from others today and from now on. God bless you.
