Why do you sneeze in a row? How can you sneeze safely?

What causes you to sneeze a lot

Sneezing can be an early symptom of a cold or allergy. Sneezing spreads viruses like a cold, flu, or of course, the coronavirus that we are facing now!!! Creating aerosol droplets containing the viruses that caused the infection may then be inhaled by healthy individuals.

A little-known condition called photic sneeze reflex, or autosomal compelling helioophthalmic outburst (ACHOO) syndrome, also occurs due to stimuli like when first exposed to bright light after your eyes have adjusted to the dark.

Some estimates claim it affects between 18 and 35 percent of people. Further studies show that this is inherited dominantly; therefore, only one of your parents needs to have it for you to have it too, and it isn’t dangerous.

Many often, the simple reason is your nose is not clear from the bacteria or dust, and thus, the nose makes several attempts to remove it and thus causes you to sneeze till your nose is red as an apple. So, this isn't an acute disease to be considered, but you must learn to stop the spread and sneeze with manners!!

How to sneeze safely

As sneezing itself is a natural process of your body to remove the impurities, you can't actually stop it. In fact, you can delay the process, but there is no point in delaying it as it will cause you to sneeze even louder!! So you must practice sneezing in ways it doesn't give an awkward sense to others, and also, you have the responsibility not to spread it.

  • Always carry a tissue or cloth piece wherever you go and use it to sneeze; dispose of the same after use.
  • Wash your hands after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose.
  • Disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects, including toys and doorknobs.

Prevention is better than cure !!

As more often sneezing is caused by external factors, try to stay away from some common elements that can make you sneeze wild...

  • Clean your nose, especially the overgrown nose hair.
  • Avoid looking that bright lights.
  • Avoid going and touching dusty rooms or things.
  • Stay away from smoking, people.
  • Stay away from dogs or pets which are allergic to you.
  • Stop inhaling smells that you find irritant.
  • Stay away from people infected with cold or flu.
  • Don't eat too much, as some people sneeze when they have a huge meal.
  • Use your tongue to tickle the roof of your mouth; after 5 to 10 seconds, the urge to sneeze may dissipate.
  • Try to wear a face mask, not only for covid since our environment is heavily polluted and dusty.
  • Try to inhale the steam as it is the best cure for running nose or cold.

So the bottom line is, even if you sneeze more than usual, it's an automatic process to purify your body. Avoid situations that cause you to sneeze, and always remember don't delay your sneezing sensation; just let it go. You just have to do it in a controlled manner; that's it.
