If you were able to look through the perspective of a person who thinks the world is flat, you would find out many things that will really surprise you.
According to the flat earthers, the North pole would be right in the center, and the continent is splayed out over the plane. And on the edges, you would run into a huge wall of ice around 150 feet tall, guarded by the NASA employees with guns.
Flat earthers believe that if anyone tries to go beyond that tall ice wall, they will get turned away at gunpoint and put in prison.
The flat earth theory suggests that the sun, the moon, the stars, they're all nothing but just little light balls in the sky that move around just above the earth's surface, and surprisingly, there are loads of people who actually believe this, spreading their ideas through social media having hundreds of thousands of followers. And this theory has become incredibly popular.
Flat Earthers have become a thing just in the past couple hundred years. Before that, no one actually believed or stressed the flat earth theory because plenty of experiments showed how the Earth is actually globe-shaped.
Even though there is existing proof that suggests the Earth is not flat, and it is a globe, still people refuse to believe that the Earth is a globe.
There is an annual flat-Earth conference in the US, and more than 600 people attended a recent conference, and you can see the YouTube is full of videos purporting to confirm that the Earth is flat.
What if the earth is flat? let's see why some people believe that the earth is flat
Flat earthers see science and observing reality as much simpler tasks. Meaning they believe only in things that are perfectly visible and things that are understandable by simple observations. And they don't want to include theories and complicated facts which are taught in school or which are written in books. Most of the flat earthers believe that all of these facts written in the books are nothing but a hoax.
"Honesty of thought is to look at truth in the face, not the side face, but the full front," said Samuel Rowbotham. He was a scientist and a writer who wrote Zetetic Astronomy: Earth Not a Globe. He was one of several scientists and mathematicians who used simplified reductionist maths and science to prove that the earth is not spherical but flat.
These people used simplified methods and experiments to prove the earth is flat and excluded some other scientific facts like the behavior of lights, air densities, and atmospheric refraction of faraway objects. You can say they excluded all the facts that supported the experiments and proof of globe-shaped earth.
Flat earthers believe people who believe that the earth is a spinning globe are ignorant and are the victims of a big society that manipulates us and feeds us wrong pieces of information for their secretive purposes.
Most of the flat Earthers' reasoning or explanation goes like this "You have never observed the Earth as a whole. From where you stand anywhere on Earth, the world will seem flat to you. That’s a fact."
Now let's see why the flat earth theory doesn't make any sense
when you look at a mountain or a skyscraper from a far distance, the first thing that is visible to you is its top and not the bottom part, and this simple observation proves that the earth is globe-shaped. If the earth is flat, we could have seen the entire mountain and skyscraper (it's top and bottom) from a far distance.
If the earth were flat, then all the places on the earth would have the same season at the same time. The concept of different seasons at different places on earth would not have existed if the earth were flat.
If the earth was flat, then different places would not have a different time zone, and people from all around the world would see the sunset and sunrise simultaneously.
The sun is always casting the Earth's shadow into space, and during a lunar eclipse, Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon. The earth blocks the sunlight falling on the Moon, and we see the earth's shadow on the moon during the Lunar eclipse, If you see the shape of the shadow of the earth, it is completely spherical, and if the Earth was flat, then we would have seen a flat shadow on the moon and not a spherical shaped shadow.
It is always a segment of an arc of a circle. And this simple observation shows that the earth's shape is perfectly spherical and not flat.
Some people believe the flat earth movement has a broader message
Many people call them absurd and senseless for believing in the flat earth theory, but some people look at it from another angle. They believe that the flat earth movement has a broader message, and in fact, it really does have a broader message.
People who believe in flat earth are skeptical, and they look at everything written in books or things that are taught by big institutions in a suspicious way.
They say, "if you have not seen the spherical shaped earth with your own eyes and yet you believe in globe-shaped earth just because the officials said so and is written in the books, then you are playing into the hands of big and secret societies that are trying to manipulate our emotions, and thought processes and are feeding us the wrong pieces of information for their secretive purposes."
They believe "these secret societies and institutions are feeding us the wrong pieces of information because they are trying to control us. If we buy these theories created by them, it will make it easy for them to control the world as they want."
You should not completely neglect or blame the feelings and thought processes of the people that believe in the flat earth theory.
All these chaotic situations and meaningless, unprecedented, and unexplained events happening all around the world in this new era made them believe in all such conspiracy theories.
