Israeli army raid in refugee camp: six Palestinians killed, tension in the West Bank:
The Palestinian Ministry of Health says that six Palestinians have been killed in a raid by the Israeli army in the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank.
Israel's prime minister has said that one of the dead was responsible for killing two Israeli brothers last month.
The killing of these brothers in the southern town of Howrah infuriated the Jewish settlers.
The Israeli army carried out the raid on Tuesday afternoon in a refugee camp that has been a frequent target of Israeli operations against Palestinian militants.
"During the raid, there were reports of intense firing exchanges, while videos circulating on social media showed smoke rising from a building and a helicopter hovering over a long convoy of military vehicles.
The Israeli army claims to have used a missile strike on a shoulder-launched missile fired at the target individual, and alleges that local militants fired on soldiers from an ambulance.
Tension persists on Wednesday morning, and according to Reuters, a rocket attack was reported on Jewish settlements from the Gaza strip.
Alarms were sounded in Jewish settlements near the Gaza Strip in anticipation of possible rocket attacks, while Israelis were fleeing towards shelters, but the Israeli army claims that the rocket attack did not reach Jewish settlements and fell in the Gaza Strip.
According to statements by Hamas and Islamic Jihad, all those killed in the Israeli army's attack were affiliated with Hamas' military group, the Al-Qassam Brigades.
Hamas' armed wing said in a statement, "We tell our fighters to continue the resistance against Israeli occupation and to fight them in every inch of our occupied land."
Meanwhile, Palestinian residents of Ramallah also protested against the killing of Palestinian civilians during the Israeli army raid.
According to a list issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the five people who were killed were in their early twenties, while one person was 49 years old and identified as Abdul Fattah Kharroush.
It is believed that they were members of the Palestinian militant group Hamas, from Nablus, and had spent time in Israeli jails.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that there is suspicion that the two sons of Abdul Fattah Kharroush were also involved in attacks on Jewish brothers, and both were arrested in a simultaneous operation in Nablus on Tuesday.
22-year-old Hillel Yaffe and 20-year-old Yagel Yaffe were killed in Huwara, about four miles south of Nablus.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video message that Israeli forces had "eliminated this heinous terrorist who murdered (Jewish brothers) in cold blood."
He further stated that "our brave warriors infiltrated the terrorists' hideouts and conducted a surgical operation."
Nabil Abu Rdainah, a spokesman for the Palestinian Presidential Palace, accused the Israeli government of "waging a full war" and said that it is responsible for this "dangerous escalation."
Within hours of the killing of Jewish brothers, hundreds of Jewish settlers entered the Huwara area seeking revenge and set fire to dozens of cars and homes.
Palestinian officials say that the Israeli military killed 37-year-old Samah Iktash in one of these clashes when he was shot dead while protesting.
