What is caste census?
Under the caste census, the details of the status and population of citizens of different classes and communities living in the country are collected by the government. All types of classes are included in it. But in India it is mainly divided into four classes, General Class, Other Backward Class, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe.
The purpose of caste census is to assess the status and priorities of the citizens and to properly determine their role and reservation system in making future government policies for the elimination of problems.

Why is caste census in discussion at present?
The demand for caste census has been a tug of war between the government and the opposition for the past few years. In view of the opposition's persistent demand, the government has approved it, but this matter is related to providing new development opportunities to deserving citizens beyond the policies of the British government. Especially reservation,The aim is expected to formulate new policies regarding the system and provide new opportunities for progress to each section on the basis of population.
