Why Communication is important to people in Business?

All surverys, conducted all over the world, especially those conducted in the United States of America have established that communication skills are important to all businesses. The value of good writing, speaking and listening skills for career advancement is stressed by employers.

The greatest priority is given to communication skills in all business schools offering MBA programme Wall Street Journal (career journal 2002) proclaims "To stand out from competition, you must demonstrate the unwritten requirement that are now most in demand: leadership and communication skills

Modern technology magnifies an individual's communication skills. E-mail and other forms place an individual's communication skills leading to "compare and contrast" situations. So, there is a need to constantly hone (sharpen) one's communication skills

Good communication skills advance an individual in his/her career. As one

advances, one has to develop a sharp focus on his communication skills, constantly

strive to sharpen them. The situation becomes more and more demanding.

In the present highly competitive global scenario, a business executive not

only needs to perform well but also communicate the value of the good performance

to others in the same business.

We will underscore the importance of communication skills to individuals in business with the observation of Peter Drucker, the most respected management Guru "Colleges teach the one thing that is perhaps most valuable for the future employee to know. But very few students bother to learn it" Peter Drucker refers to the skill to organize and express ideas in writing and speaking.

It is true in respect of our country also. Students and even institutions tend to treat this subject as less important. You may be a good accountant, engineer, designer or an expert labour manager, but unless you are able to communicate your ideas well, your advancement runs the risk of failure..
