Why Centre to invest Rs1000 crore to set-up 200 TV channels for education of underprivileged youth

•   Union Education Minister Dhirendra Pradhan announced that the Government of India is investing Rs 1000 crore to set up 200 new TV channels to provide underprivileged youth in remote and backward areas access to quality education. The union education minister made the announcement while inaugurating the new computer center and e-classroom building of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Khairpur. He went on to remark that there will soon be one channel for each class in every language of India.
  

    200 NEW TV CHANNELS TO BE SET UP,

    Union Education Minister Dhirendra Pradhan took to Twitter to announce the setting up of 200 new TV channels.

     His tweet read, “GOI is investing over 1,000 crores to create 200 new TV channels for ensuring access to quality education for underprivileged youth in remote and backward areas. Soon we will have one channel for every class in every language of India.”

   WITH ENCOURAGED TO MAKE CONTENT FOR NEW CHANNELS,

   Union Education Minister Dhirendra Pradhan went on to say that these new channels will also need content while encouraging WITH to think in this direction.

•   He tweeted, “These 200+ TV channels will require innovative and quality content. @NITHamirpurHP should think in this direction and create innovative audio-visual-gaming based content for students of both basic and advanced courses.”

•   One Of The Significant Initiatives In Education Sector A digital university to be built on the 'hub-and-spoke' model and expansion of the 'one class-one TV channel' program through 200 channels to provide supplementary education in regional languages in institutions are among the significant initiatives in the education sector proposed by Finance Minister Normal Starman in her budget speech this year. The Finance Minister stated that due to the pandemic-induced lockdown and the subsequent closure of schools, kids, particularly in the rural areas, those from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and other marginalized sections, lost almost two years of formal education. However, experts batting for the reopening of schools questioned the Center's move to set up TV channels for providing supplementary education to students of classes 1 to 12.
