Cassini-Huygens' experiments with Saturn, a seven-year joint venture with NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Italian Space Agency, find an even more surprising discovery. In addition to discovering that Cassini operates geographically differently from its nearest neighbor Midas, Cassini has now confirmed that Escalades is indeed responsible for Saturn's E ring. The Saturn E ring is a very wide, very dark Saturn ring.
Escalades is a small 314-mile-long [314 km] moonlight that reflects almost 100 percent of its temperature. For this reason, it is the coldest month, with temperatures of about 330 degrees Fahrenheit. Its orbit is influenced by the gravitational pull of Saturn and the gravitational pull of the giant moons near Tethys and Done. The previous voyage of Voyager and Cassini has shown it as a moon with sharp geological differences over its lunar surface of such a small size.
It has long been thought that Escalades was somehow responsible for Saturn's E ring. An evaporation of ice particles was first discovered using the Cosmic Dust Analyzer (CDA) High Rate Detector (HRD) on Cassini's 286-mile route in July. However, it was not confirmed until November 26, 2005, when Cassini made the closest approach to the Saturn moons yet. This 109-mile route used infrared detection to ensure the removal of ice particles from the line from the South Pole.
This ice sheet confirms the proposed theory that Escalades is the source of the fine ice particles responsible for making one of Saturn's rings, the E ring. The E ring is made of ice particles near a diameter of 3 microns. The average size of particles emitted by Escalades is within 10 microns. However, this theory is still volatile because very large particles are believed to be too large to escape the gravitational pull of the moon. Medium-sized particles are likely to leave the atmosphere but are pulled back before they fully escape. Only the finest, smallest particles of plume make up the E ring.
Escalades closely resembles a comet in that it releases ice particles. The difference lies in the fact that in a comet. The snow is warmed by the sunlight. The source of Escalades heat is less well known. Some kind of indoor machine, possibly a sea power or radiation generator, creates the heat of such a small moon. This is an amazing unresolved mystery behind Escalades, and the main reason for the existence of Saturn's E ring.
