Why 'Bollywood can't afford' Mahesh Babu? Tollywood actor charges THIS whopping amount per film

Mahesh Babu, who said that "I don’t think they (Bollywood) can afford me. I don’t want to waste my time," claimed that he is committed to doing films in Telugu and his upcoming film with RR director SS Rajamouli will be his first pan-India release.

Mahesh Babu left people heartbroken when he hinted that he might not make his Bollywood debut. During an event, the Tollywood actor bluntly said that Bollywood cannot afford him and therefore he does not want to waste his time. The 46-year-old revealed he has received numerous offers from the Hindi film industry, but he doesn't feel the need to cross over. "I may sound arrogant, I did get a lot of offers in Hindi, but I don’t think they can afford me. I don’t want to waste my time working in an industry which can’t afford me," Mahesh Babu said.

"The stardom and love I have here in Telugu cinema, I never thought of going to another industry. I always thought I will do films here and they will become bigger, and my belief is turning into a reality now. I can't be happier," he added. Also, Mahesh Babu claimed that he is committed to doing films in Telugu and his upcoming film with RR director SS Rajamouli will be his first pan-India release.

However, as Mahesh Babu has said that Bollywood cannot 'afford’ him, do you know how much he charges for a film? If reports are to be believed, the actor, who earlier earned around Rs 60 crores from each of his films, has hiked his fee to Rs 80 crores now. On the other hand, Prabhas is said to be the highest-paid actor in Tollywood. He is receiving over Rs 100 crore for each film.

For the uninitiated, Namrata Shirodkar and Mahesh Babu had tied the marital knot on February 10, 2005. The much-in-love couple had welcomed their first child, a baby boy, Gautham, in the year 2006. After some years, it was in 2012, when the couple had embraced parenthood for the second time when they had welcomed an adorable daughter in their lives, whom they had lovingly named, Sitara.

Mahesh Babu's response to the possibility of him working in Bollywood has created a whole new fight on the internet between the die-hard fans of the Hindi film industry and South Indian cinema. While on the one side, some people are calling Mahesh Babu's statement a befitting reply to the Hindi cinema and hailed the actor for choosing South over Bollywood. However, on the other side, many people called Mahesh Babu an arrogant person and trolled him for his demeaning statement about Bollywood. The angry netizens didn't stop there, as they also made fun of Mahesh Babu's facial expressions and passed some extremely derogatory comments on the actor.

In his word,"I did get a lot of offers in Hindi, but I don't think they can afford me. I don't want to waste my time working in an industry which can't afford me. The stardom and the respect I get here [in South] is huge, so I never really thought of leaving my industry and going to some other industry. I have always thought of doing films and becoming bigger. My dream is coming true now and I can't be happier."
