Why are you troubling With Over-Stressing Your Diet

You may already be aware that having a larger waistline puts you at a higher risk for heart disease, diabetes, and other health problems—even more so than carrying extra pounds on other parts of your body. So you want to lose those extra pounds around your waist. To do so, you must do something seemingly counterintuitive: eat.

That's correct. Do not deprive yourself. According to research, dieting too intensely or tracking every morsel too closely can create conditions for your waistline to expand rather than shrink.

Don't play with stress.
A new study tracked the stress levels of 121 female dieters for three weeks and found some troubling results. Those who adhered to a strict low-calorie eating plan consisting of prepackaged meals totaling 1,200 calories per day experienced weight loss.

Weight loss and snack foods

If the thought of giving up your favorite snacks makes you avoid diets, keep reading to learn about some of the best snack foods for weight loss. You'll be surprised to learn that there are still some tasty treats available.

According to Harvard Medical School, when stressed, the body releases the hormone cortisol, insulin, and ghrelin, which can increase hunger and cravings for unhealthy foods.
If the stressful event continues, hormone remain elevated, raising levels of another hormone called leptin, which aids your body in recognizing when it is full.
These hormonal changes can increase your risk of leptin resistance. According to a study published in Trends in Endocrinology & Metabolism in November 2010.

Foods that are warming and soothing

The nutrient profile of a food may be just as important as how it makes you feel for overcoming stress.
Take, for example, a soothing, warm cup of tea, suggests Sandra Meyerowitz, MPH, RD, online nutrition coach and owner of Nutrition Works in Louisville, Kentucky.
Sipping a warm drink, regardless of flavor, has a soothing effect, but certain herbs have been shown to have a relaxing effect on their own, according to Meyerowitz.
According to one study published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology in March 2013, chamomile may help reduce anxiety by rewiring the body's stress response and increasing production of the feel-good hormones serotonin and dopamine.
When you're stressed, dessert is usually not a good idea, but dark chocolate is an exception.
