Why Are Probiotics Important For Human Health

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines probiotics as live bacteria that can play a beneficial role in the health of consumers when ingested in adequate amounts. It contains three properties of probiotics:

Probiotics are "live bacteria"

This means that probiotics can withstand various gastrointestinal digestive enzymes and enter the human intestines and stomach alive.

Correct dosage

For a probiotic to be effective, it must reach a certain dose.

Good for health

Only those that are beneficial to human health can be considered probiotics.

The number of flora in our intestines reaches up to 100 trillion, of which beneficial bacteria, harmful bacteria and neutral bacteria are represented in our body in a certain ratio. When the human gut flora becomes unbalanced, it weakens the body's ability to resist bacteria and viruses and disrupts the balance of the immune system, resulting in a variety of diseases. These diseases include: various diarrheas, inflammatory bowel diseases, irritable bowel syndrome and other digestive diseases, diabetes, obesity, allergies, asthma and other immune diseases. When the human body is in a state of intestinal flora imbalance, the scientific supplementation of probiotic preparations has been scientifically confirmed in the treatment of diarrhea, the prevention of diarrhea associated with antibiotics, and the adjunctive treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases and other digestive diseases.

What are common probiotics?

Lactobacillus acidophilus: The main probiotic in the human small intestine can aid digestion and prevent urinary tract infections in women.

Bifidobacterium: Treats chronic diarrhea, relieves constipation and improves human immunity.

Lactobacillus Rh a Mn o SUS: prevention and treatment of diarrhea, prevention of intestinal infections and relief of lactose intolerance.

Lactobacillus case i: Supports digestion, lowers blood pressure, lowers cholesterol and relieves allergies.

Lactobacillus para case i: prevention of food allergies and acute diarrhea.

Lactobacillus plant arum: Regulates blood lipids and increases immunity.

People who need to supplement with probiotics are not advised to use yogurt instead of probiotics. It is recommended to choose non-liquid professional probiotic preparations under the guidance of a doctor.

In addition, different probiotics have different effects, so you need to "prescribe the right medicine" under the guidance of a doctor. Although there are no reports of serious adverse effects from long-term use of probiotics, it is generally recommended that they be taken for no longer than 2 weeks. This means that long-term use is not recommended. People with healthy guts do not need to take probiotics.

How to choose probiotics

The type of probiotics is not chosen correctly. There are many types of probiotics and each has a different function, and targeted supplementation can have corresponding effects. For example: Bifidobacteria can enter the large intestine, promote bowel movements, aid emptying and regulate bowel disorders; Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus Rh a Mn o SUS can improve allergies; Streptococcus thermophilous can enter the small intestine to help the human body digest lactose. 70% of probiotics are used in food. When shopping, you can check the ingredient list and choose; in the absence of a certain type of probiotic, it is more effective to use a special probiotic preparation under the guidance of a doctor.

Supplemental amount is insufficient. To achieve good results with probiotic supplementation, it is necessary to add at least 5-10 billion or more each time, and the more active bacteria, the better. Probiotics are anaerobic and do not tolerate high temperatures, and it is difficult for them to enter the intestines when consumed. With each intake of a sufficient amount of probiotics, it is therefore possible to retain part of them so that they survive in the intestine as much as possible. When drinking probiotic supplements, supplement with warm water around 37 °C (water temperature should not be too high) and then drink as soon as possible to avoid too much oxygen. The same applies to other foods containing probiotics.

Probiotics are very sensitive to stomach acids. The pH value of normal stomach acid is about 1.8, which is not favorable for the survival of probiotics. Hunger and food stimulation before and after eating, gastric acid secretion is more, not suitable for supplementation, you need to choose a time when the pH value of stomach acid is relatively high, take probiotics. After 30 to 60 minutes after eating, the feeling of fullness is strong, the secretion of gastric acid is reduced, and most of the food still remains in the stomach, which can neutralize the gastric acid, which is suitable for supplementing probiotics. It can also be supplemented between meals.

Incorrect preservation method. Foods containing probiotics should be sealed and stored at a low temperature. After opening, they must be consumed as soon as possible. Because air contains water molecules, it can activate probiotics, but oxygen can kill anaerobic probiotics. Choosing dried probiotic granules in individual small packages or closed, fresh dairy products is, on the one hand, easier to store and, on the other hand, easier to absorb.
