Why are blood donations important and necessary to save precious human lives?

Blood donations are very important and necessary to save precious human lives in the event of an accident, serious illness, or surgery. Any human being may need blood, plasma, or white blood cells in normal life and in the event of an accident, serious illness, or surgery.

Every year, June 14 is celebrated as International Blood Donor Day. The aim is to raise awareness about safe blood transfusions, as well as to encourage all those who donate their blood to save the lives of others without any personal greed.

Blood is an essential component of the human body that circulates through the heart and arteries to various parts of the body. According to medical experts, every adult human body has about 1.2 gallons to 1.5 gallons, or 4.5 litres to 5.5 litres of blood.

Donating blood to any needy patient is considered as an ongoing charity. In Surah Al-Ma'ida of the Holy Qur'an, the Almighty has equated saving the life of one human being with saving the life of all humanity. On the other hand, with the help of any other human being, peace of mind is obtained from the Divine Power and man is saved from all kinds of calamities and deprivations.

Most people think that donating blood has a negative effect on human health, but this is not true. Every healthy person has about one litre (i.e. two to three bottles) of extra blood in their body. Health experts say that every healthy person should donate blood at least twice a year. Blood donors stay healthy, not have side effects.

The human body completes the amount of blood taken in donating blood in three days, while the blood cells are formed in 56 days, and the new blood cells are healthier and stronger than the old blood, which protects man from many diseases.

It is also important to donate blood once and for three months or more. According to research by the American Medical Association, people who donate blood from time to time have a 95% lower chance of having a heart attack and cancer.

Iron affects the human heart, liver and pancreas due to high levels of iron in the body and its low excretion, while research has shown that donating blood is a very useful way to balance the amount of iron in the body. This process helps prevent blood clots in the veins and helps blood flow better in the body.

Regular blood donors do not suffer from obesity because the process of donating blood helps in reducing body fat and weight control. The formation of new blood after blood donation creates a glow in the face and eliminates the effects of ageing on the face.

The number of people donating blood is very high in other countries of the world but unfortunately in our country only 1 to 2% of people donate blood voluntarily while other people donate blood in accidents or other serious cases.

According to health experts, the life of blood in our body is only 120 days, so why don't we save that blood from being wasted, awaken the spirit of service to the people in us, donate blood and save someone's life.

It is important to know the blood type for safe blood transfusion. Basically, blood groups are divided into four types, namely A, B, O, and AB, further dividing each type into positive and negative. Group O blood can be transfused to patients of all groups, while group A blood can be transfused to A and AB, group B to B and AB, and group AB blood can be transfused only to group AB patients.

Anyone between the ages of 17 and 50 and weighing more than 50 kg can donate blood. In addition, donor tests are performed when donating blood, including hepatitis B, AIDS, malaria and syphilis. Due to which, the donor becomes aware of his hidden diseases before it becomes incurable.
