Why are Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin gaining in popularity today?

What happened?

The cryptocurrency market is showing signs of recovery on Saturday after a day of sell-offs on Friday. Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) was up around 3.3 percent from the stock market's closing bell on Friday as of 10 am. Over the same time frame, Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) and Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE) tokens were up roughly 6.4 percent and 6 percent, respectively. Cryptocurrency prices began to rise in October and continued to rise until mid-November when momentum began to reverse. Investors assessed regulatory risk considerations and the prospect that digital token valuations are going toward a more prolonged bearish cycle as the entire cryptocurrency market continued to fall in December. Having said that, the bitcoin market appears to be rather tranquil right now.

So, what's the deal?

Last month, Bitcoin achieved a new all-time high of $68,990.90 per token, but it fell below $50,000 per token early in December trading and presently trades at around $46,300 per coin. The cryptocurrency has been down nearly 23% in the last month and is down roughly 33% from its all-time high. Although Bitcoin has had a fantastic year and remains by far the most popular cryptocurrency, there are hints that the market is changing toward a different type of token. While Bitcoin can be used as a money or a speculative investment vehicle, the majority of the market's excitement appears to be concentrated on tokens linked to blockchain networks and applications focused on service and development.

In terms of cash value, Ethereum has been at the forefront of the crypto market's shift toward application-backed coins. The price of the network's ether token has risen in tandem with the use of the network's smart-contract and application-building functionalities, and some investors and experts believe that this momentum will lead to "the flip pending," or when Ethereum's market valuation surpasses that of Bitcoin. The fact that Ether has only lost 8% of its value in the last month of adverse crypto momentum indicates that the token is gaining strength in comparison to Bitcoin. Dogecoin, on the other hand, is down around 29% in the last month and 75% from its all-time high. Dogecoin's price per token peaked in May at around $0.69, but it swiftly lost ground as investors profited from the cryptocurrency's rapid rise. As investors have become more risk-averse and interest has switched to other meme tokens, the token has failed to regain ground. During the last 24 hours, the global crypto market capitalization increased to $2.19 trillion from $2.14 trillion, while trading volume decreased to $78.4 billion from $105.39 billion on December 19. Bitcoin increased by more than 1% to Rs 37,27,275, while Ethereum increased by more than 2.5 percent to Rs 3,13,539 internationally. Avalanche gained more than 6% to Rs 9,150. Polkadot gained almost 3% to Rs 2,022.99 in the previous 24 hours, while Litecoin gained approximately 2% to Rs 11,846. Bitcoin dominated the crypto market capitalization chart with a stake of over 40%, followed by Ethereum at 21% and Binance coin at 4%.

The market was volatile and unregulated, according to Lyakh, who added that no one looked into market manipulation. For years, Russia has been a vocal opponent of private cryptocurrencies, claiming that they may be used to launder money or fund terrorists. Although they were granted legal status in 2020, they were not permitted to be used as a mode of payment.
