Firstly, Disney animated movies are not the reason for giving the might beast its well profound title. But there are many other aspects and logic behind this. Let's find out the same compared to some animals crowned as the King of the Jungle.
1) The King is the one who has control over the others and the one who can rule with superiority over others. (Not to be taken in terms of civil society, we discuss the Jungle laws here). It is believed that a lion's roar can be heard till approx 5.5 miles, which is enough to spread fear in amount its prey.
2) A lion's habitat includes scrubland, grasslands, savannahs, and rocky hills, but not jungles. So this makes our beast more mobile and has more ways to get his prey.
3) The Lion can only kill through bites and by choking its prey, but it cannot withstand the weight of the elephant's feet on its body. Elephants have known to be dangerous and can quickly kill when disturbed. Elephants are bigger and stronger than the Lion on any given day. But here comes the twist, Elephants are not predators. The Lion is on top of the food chain. It can kill the elephant and eat it, but the elephants can kill the Lion, not consume them. Elephants don't have the nature of attacking humans or other animals, but Lions do it.
4) Similarly, it can be considered with Hippopotamus, which is again not a predator and has more strength than a Lion, but still, it will not kill and eat. Likewise, the crocodile was a strong contender, but it has the power only while in water and while on land; its bite is still mighty, but its movement and flexibility getgetduced a lot.
5) As compared with other cats in its segment, Lion is even more powerful than its counterparts like the tiger, leopard, etc. Hence it enjoys superiority.
6) He lives the life of a king. Jokes apart, like they show the kings in movies- Surrounded by ladies, he eats when he likes, sleeps when he wants, and does whatever he wants. Our beast as well relaxes with multiple lionesses and cubs. The lioness's job is to search/hunt for prey and feed the Lion and its cubs. The Lion only needs to protect its herd from another young lion or external attack or danger.
7) One heck of a powerful bite. Lions are considered to have the most powerful bite force among all the predators. Its palm and nails are also considered to be part of his act while attacking.
8) Running on purely due to its attacking nature, this predator can stand out to be the undisputed King. Even if he is not the most powerful with some of the other animals, its predator nature makes him the one to be feared.
To sum it up, it may sound fictional to name some animal as the King of the jungle without any approvals from the animal kingdom. But it is the life cycle, and jungle life introduces us to this harsh truth of life and death for food.
