Why Advertisements are important ?

Advertising is always present, though people may not be aware of it. In today's world, advertising uses every possible medium to get its message through. It does this via television, print (newspapers, magazines, journals, etc.), radio, press, internet, direct selling, hoardings, mailers, contests, sponsorships, posters, clothes, events, colors, sounds, visuals, and even people (endorsements).

The advertising industry comprises companies that advertise, agencies that create the advertisements, media that carry the ads, and a host of people like copy editors, visualizers, brand managers, researchers, creative heads, and designers who take the last mile to the customer or receiver. A company that needs to advertise itself and/or its products hires an advertising agency. The company briefs the agency on the brand, its imagery, the ideals and values behind it, the target segments, etc. The agencies convert the ideas and concepts to create the visuals,

text, layouts, and themes to communicate with the user. After approval from the client, the ads go on air, as per the bookings done by the agency's media buying unit. In its wider sense, advertising is as much applicable to the world of politics and religion as to that of business and trade. But when we speak of advertisements, we generally refer to business and commerce. It is through colorful advertisements that trading companies create demand and secure sales for their products. In the past, there was not much need to advertise goods. Markets were limited. The traders and manufacturers had only local customers. At best, they took the services of town-criers. Or, they used handbills or posters. But now, advertising itself has become a specialized form of business. Many advertising agencies have come up. These agencies help business people to promote their sales. Small traders make use of handbills, posters, and wall paintings. But big traders and industrialists use sophisticated devices for this purpose. They advertise their products through the silver screen of the cinema. They telecast sponsored programs. They give catchy advertisements on the radio. Colorful and life-size hoardings are displayed on the roadsides. Many gift schemes are started to push the sale of products.

The average small business using Google advertising spends between $9,000 and $10,000 per month on online advertising campaigns. That's $100,000 to $120,000 per year. The average cost per click of an online Facebook ad is $1.72. The average cost per action on Facebook Ads is $18.68.

Advertisements are everywhere around us. They are seen at every street corner, at bus stands, at the railway stations. Business people know that they can't do without advertisements. It is not enough to produce goods. Much more important is the creation of markets. A business person or manufacturer who thinks he can do without advertisement will soon be wiped out of the market. There is nothing wrong with advertising. But it should be seen that unscrupulous traders cannot sell their substandard products to innocent customers by the sheer force of advertisements.
