Why 3 Reasons To Start Saying "Yes" To Yourself By Saying "No" To Others?

Why 3 Reasons To Start Saying "Yes" To Yourself By Saying "No" To Others

Your new superpower should put yourself first.

Having trouble prioritizing your tasks? Or someone who puts others first while ignoring their own needs?

That's why I understand.

I recently saw "Inventing Anna," Netflix's newest blockbuster series. And although it was hard for me to empathize with the hero, the scene where he angrily shouts "I don't have time for this, I don't have time for you" struck me. If you haven't watched the scene yet, you should probably watch it on YouTube.

I am by no means a false German heir, but I am a human being. As a result, I believe we should all aim to follow this promise a little more often than we do now.

Sharing Isn't Always Sharing When It Comes To Care

I recently moved into a new flat and started selling some items online that I no longer need. While there are some great people who still pay the agreed-upon amount and arrive on time to pick up, many more never pay or disappear in the process. They have nothing against those who use the pity iron to almost force you to give something for free.

It's ridiculous that I spent so much time on that website for nothing. Grateful for the additional funds. But I wish I hadn't been so invested in other people's perspectives and evils.

The big question is why we care in the first place.

If you're a particularly loving and empathetic person, you may be inclined to put yourself in situations where your own power is taken rather than earned. In the healthcare realm, this personality trait can lead to caregiver burnout, which occurs when you take on more than you can physically or financially.

If you delay saying no, you will pay for your decision by wasting time on your own tasks and your life. And you miss your goals.

As a result, you should use the phrase “I don't have time for this” more often in your life:

Are people canceling you at the last minute? If they're not interested, they're not worth your time anyway.

Did you finally say no to your boss's request for overtime? If it bothers him so much, encourage him to fire you so that you can speak up for once.

I'm not saying you shouldn't worry. But think of the other person. If they won't make time for you, why should you make time for them?

Even the strongest superheroes are running out of time.

Saying no to certain types of chaos in your life can be your new safety net. One that protects you from unnecessary ballast.

Because we are incapable of setting boundaries, we often allow unpleasant situations and other people's opinions to influence us.

Nedra Glover Tawwab writes in her book "Set Boundaries, Find Peace", "Set Boundaries, Find Peace":

"Personal care is more than a day at the spa and is not self-indulgent." Refusing to help is a form of self-care. Self-care means taking care of your own needs. You'll have more energy for others if you apply it to yourself first, such as when you put on an oxygen mask in an emergency on an airplane. Setting boundaries is central to self-care: saying yes to your own emotional, physical, and mental health means no to anything."

Your time on this planet is limited. Apart from work and sleep, your free time is limited. Simply put, time is precious.

You are the blacksmith for the raw diamond. So at the end of the day, prioritize your personal care by deciding how you will use the remaining time. Because you will never get it back.

To Be Heard or Forgotten is the choice.

Your new life motto shouldn't be to run away when things get tough or unpleasant. Knowing when to let go should be the focus. Identifying the point where your emotional state is more important than the importance of the investment.

It also comes with the obligation to speak. Even if you disagree, how many times have you done something because of someone else?

I've spent my whole life trying to impress others. But knowing that no one would speak for me if I disagreed gave me confidence.

In today's society, the phrase "eat or eat" is more than factual, and it's entirely up to you whether you stand up for yourself or not. However, I can assure you that the conversation will result in less heartache and a unique kind of calm: the peace of independence and self-confidence.

So the next time you're angry that you're letting others put others before yourself, remember this. Take action to rectify the situation. It's not necessary to shout words like Anna Delvey does. Don't be afraid to speak up though.

It doesn't matter if it's unfair or inappropriate behavior, people don't appreciate you, or you're the one who stays in the office later than any of your coworkers.

You have the right to notify others when your restrictions have been reached. You are also free to criticize others.

Just make sure you're doing it right. With words that are both honest and respectful.
