Alexander the Great, Biography and conquests
Alexander the Great was a king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon. He was born in 356 BCE and died in 323 BCE. Alexander was tutored by Aristotle as a boy and became a skilled general and leader. He succeeded his father, Philip II, to the throne in 336 BCE at the age of 20.
Alexander's military campaigns, also known as Alexander's conquests, are considered some of the most successful in history. He led the Macedonian army on a series of conquests across the Persian Empire, Egypt, Central Asia, and India. Alexander's army never lost a battle, and he is considered one of the greatest military leaders of all time. He also spread Greek culture and ideas throughout the conquered territories.
Alexander's empire stretched from Greece to India, creating a Hellenistic world where Greek culture and customs were spread. He died at the age of 32, leaving behind a vast empire and a legacy that would influence the Western world for centuries to come.
