Broderick Full Broderick Steve Harvey Steven Harvey is an American comedian, actor, author, and television and radio personality who was born in Welch, West Virginia, on January 17, 1957. He first rose to fame for his observational humor, but later became well-known for his relationship-focused self-help counsel.

With his parents and older brothers, Harvey grew up in Cleveland. He went to Kent State University, but he didn't finish. He went back to Cleveland and started working as much as he could, frequently finding a job in sales. Used observational humor inspired by events in his own life, and spent the following few years mostly travelling, performing in any club that would have him. In 1993, Harvey was hired as the host of the nationally televised program Its Showtime at the Apollo, a position he held until 2000. He also created the TV comedy Me and the Boys, in which he portrayed a widowed father of three sons. Despite having good ratings, the show only ran for a short time.

He hosted several radio shows beginning in 2000 until launching The Steve Harvey Morning Show in 2005 on Chicago's WGC, Additionally, he kept up his stand-up routine and issued the comedy album Steve Harvey Live—Down South Somewhere (1997). He joined Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hugely, and Bernie Mac on the Kings of Comedy tour in the late 1990s; footage from the tour was used in the Spike Lee movie The Original Kings of Comedy (2000). The Fighting Temptations (2003), You Got Served (2004), and Johnson Family Vacation were among her more filmography credits (2004).
Harvey was inspired to start writing self-help books by his radio show, which gave callers advice on relationships and other life difficulties, starting with Act like a Lady.
(2009)'s best-selling book Think like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment. His previous books are Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success: Discovering Your Gift and the Way to Life's Riches and Straight Talk, No Chaser (2010). (2014).
As the Miss Universe beauty pageant's host in 2015, Harvey made headlines when he unintentionally declared the wrong competitor the competition's winner (but quickly corrected the error). From 2010, he co-led the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation, a charitable organization that offered mentoring to young people without father figures.
