Sameer Rizvi
Indian cricket player Sameer Rizvi was born on December 6, 2003, and he now plays domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh. Due to his playing style similarities with right-handed batsman Suresh Raina, he has also been dubbed after Raina on social media. He has also represented India at the under-19 level in age-group cricket.
Early years:
When he was eleven years old, he began playing cricket. He trained at Gandhibagh Academy in Meerut, where his maternal uncle Tanqib Akhtar oversaw his instruction. Suresh Raina, the captain of Uttar Pradesh, was amazed by Rizvi's fielding skills during a Ranji Trophy match between Saurashtra and Uttar Pradesh in 2011. Raina was just five years old at the time. Eventually, Raina gave Rizvi his sunglasses after realizing he had talent. Sameer was motivated to practice cricket seriously by his maternal uncle Tanqib Akhtar, and Tanqib also received criticism from Sameer's father for taking his son away from his education.
Up until the under-16 level, Rizvi batted as an opening batsman. However, one of his coaches persuaded him to bat in the middle order after observing his natural ability to play against spin bowling. His reputation for powerful hitting grew over time. It is reported that he began his schooling somewhat late in life and didn't finish his Class 10 examinations till he was 20 years old.
His father suffered a brain hemorrhage in 2020, and at such a young age, he was once his family's primary provider. Haseen Rizvi, his father, is a real estate dealer.
Carrier:
On January 27, 2020, at the age of 16, he made his first-class debut for Uttar Pradesh in the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy. On December 11, 2021, he made his List A debut for Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for 2021–2022. He was acquired by Chennai Super Kings in December 2023 for 8.40 crore during the Indian Premier League 2024 auction. He was surrounded by media representatives, neighbors, and an Uttar Pradeshi local politician at his house the day after being acquired by CSK for a record amount during the 2024 IPL auction.
