Mo Farah was born on 23rd March 1983 in Somaliland. At the age of four, he lost his father in a civil war and later got separated from his mother as well. During a BBC documentary, he revealed that he was illegally trafficked to the United Kingdom (UK) through Djibouti. Following this incident, his name was changed to Mohammed Farah from his birth name is Hussein Abdi-Kahin. He revealed that he was flown over from Somaliland to the UK by a woman he had never met. After arriving in the UK, he worked as a domestic servant.
One of the greatest middle-distance runners of all-time, Mo Farah is a track and field athlete who has won successive medals at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics in 5000-m and 10,000-m discipline.
Mo Farah is the second athlete in modern Olympic Games history after LasseViren to win both the 5000-m and 10,000 m titles at successive Olympic Games. The British athlete also holds the record of winning successive golds at World Championships in 2013 and 2015.
