You might be thinking I wrote this story after smoking some grass, but no! This is a real scene which takes place in the 1996 film Love Birds starring Prabhu Deva and Nagma, where legend Prabhu Deva does this biology-defying stunt and it is explained beautifully in an article by Vice.

Leon F Seltzer in his article for Psychology Today says, “I’d wager that far fewer men would be aroused by the sight of a navel alone, seen close-up. But as regards sexual activity relating to the navel, that’s another story. Males who focus on the navel as a source of sexual arousal and gratification are seen as belly button fetishists, and it’s reported that this body part is actually one of the most common fetishisms worldwide; in 2012 it was the second most popular fetish search on Google”.
He further writes, “The navel is an erogenous zone with a heightened sensitivity. The navel and the region below, when touched by the finger or the tip of the tongue, result in the production of erotic sensations, and some people are very ticklish to touch in that area [i.e., don’t simply assume that stimulating this area will sexually titillate your partner—they might also start giggling, distracting them and possibly undermining their carnal arousal]. Some people can be aroused by tickling, licking, blowing raspberries/zerberts (blowing air with lips), and teasing with a feather, flower or a piece of grass, especially when the person is ticklish in the navel. Fingering the navel is also a common act”.
What Is The Reason Behind This Navel Obsession?
An industry insider Aravind Vlad, writes on Quora, “Most South Indian film makers want to cover more people from children to adults. So most movie producers insist the directors to get U/A certificate from the censor board. Most producers are not satisfied with A certified film as it reduces considerable revenue. To cater to the needs of people who want glamour doses, navel shows are perhaps the best choice as it is considered least vulgar that they won't affect censorship. Most movies are of masala genre. You have romance, action, comedy, sentiments and also glamour. So for the glamour dose navel shows are perfect choice that can fit in U/A. So they are not obsessed with navels but obsessed with larger audiences so most movie's have someone to crack jokes, someone to induce a fight sequence, someone for romance, someone for glamour, someone for sentiments”.
