Sky played club cricket for Mumbai's Gymkhana Cricket Club. Apart from Gymkhana, he had also played for the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited squad, as well as teams in Mumbai such as Park Gymkhana Club and Dada Union Club. He was a veteran and consistent part of the Mumbai team. He captained the Mumbai cricket team in the Trophy for a limited length of time. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) dismissed him from captaincy during the 2014-15 Trophy season, and he was dropped from the team for the 2018-19 season. However, the MCA's selection committee later chose him and appointed him as the tournament's captain for 2019-20. Sky led the Mumbai team in 2020-21. In 2021, he hit 249 runs for his club, Gymkhana, in the final match versus Sports Club in the 'Police Shield' event at the Police Gymkhana ground in Mumbai. Gymkhana won this competition the last time it was in 1956, becoming the only club in history to win back-to-back trophies in three distinct formats in a single season. Sky was named the tournament's top batting. He was picked in India C's squad for the 2018-19 special Trophy in October 2018. He was picked in India C squad for the 2019-20th Trophy in October 2019. Sky obtained his first national call up in February 2021 after scoring consistently in first class and domestic cricket. Sky was picked to India's Twenty20 International (T20I) team for their series against England in February 2021. It was his first international call-up to India's cricket team. He made his T20I debut for India against England on March 14, 2021. On 18 March, he batted for the first time in international cricket, hitting the first ball he faced for a six, becoming the first Indian to do so in a T20 International, and went on to achieve a half-century. He was picked to India's Day International (ODI) team the following day for their series against England. His game-changing efforts at No. 3 earned him the moniker "X Factor" player. He was picked to India's Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) teams for their series against Sri Lanka in June 2021. On July 18, 2021, he made his ODI debut for India against Sri Lanka. Sky achieved his first ODI fifty against Sri Lanka on July 21, 2021. Sky was called up as a replacement to India's Test team for the series against England in July 2021. Sky was picked to India's team for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in September 2021. He was included in India's Test squad for the November series against New Zealand. He was picked in India's squad for their T20I series against Ireland in June 2022. Sky got his first T20I century against England in July 2022 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, England, scoring 117 off 55 balls. He is only the fifth Indian player to score a century in T20Is, and only the second to do so when batting fourth or lower. He became the fastest batter in T20I history in October 2022, scoring 1000 runs in 573 balls against South Africa. Sky was ranked top in the ICC T20I batters rankings on October 30, 2022. Sky achieved the half-century by an Indian batsman in a T20 World Cup, and his first in a T20 World Cup at Sydney Cricket Ground on October 27, 2022. Sky got his second T20I century against New Zealand in November 2022 at Bay Oval in New Zealand, scoring 111 not out off 51 balls with 11 fours and 7 sixes. He became the second Indian in a calendar year to make two hundred in T20Is, breaking Rohit Sharma's record. Sky recorded the century by an Indian batsman in T20 Internationals, the third of his career, against Sri Lanka in January 2023 at the Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, India. He broke KL Rahul's record for the second fastest T20I century, which he achieved against the West Indies in 46 balls. Sky was also named ICC T20I Player of the Year.
