 On November 18, 2012, Roman Reigns made his main roster television debut alongside Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins at the Survivor Series pay-perview event. They attacked Ryback in the triple threat main event for the WWE Championship, allowing CM Punk to win the title and solidifying their role as the antagonists.[41] The three introduced themselves as The Shield, promising to fight "injustice" and denied any involvement with Punk, despite the fact that they would frequently emerge from the audience to take on Punk's opponents, such as Ryback and WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No (Daniel Bryan and Kane).[42][43][44][45] As a result, on December 16 at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, a six-man tag match featuring Reigns, Ambrose, and Rollins beat Team Hell No andRyback in their first-ever fight.[46] In January 2013, The Shield still supported Punk, going after Ryback and The Rock.[47][48] The Shield and Brad Maddox were employed by Punk and his manager Paul Heyman, it was disclosed on the Raw show airing on January 28.[49]

[55] The Shield's perfect record in broadcast six man tag bouts came to an end on the May 13 Raw show when they lost by disqualification in an elimination tag match against Cena, Kane, and Bryan.
