Lord Shiva, dear to all of us, is not born, he is self-styled. But the details of their origin are found in the Puranas. According to Vishnu Purana, Brahma was born from the lotus navel of Lord Vishnu while Shiva is said to have originated from the brilliance of Lord Vishnu's forehead. According to Vishnu Purana, Shiva always stays in Yogamudra because of the brilliance of the forehead.
According to Shrimad Bhagwat, once when Lord Vishnu and Brahma, overwhelmed by arrogance, were fighting claiming themselves to be superior, then Lord Shiva appeared from a burning pillar.
The story of Shiva's birth described in the Vishnu Purana is probably the only child form of Lord Shiva. According to this, Brahma needed a child. He did penance for this. Then suddenly the child Shiva appeared in her lap, crying. When Brahma asked the child the reason for crying, he innocently replied that he did not have a name, so he was crying.Do you know 10 Rudravatars of Lord Shiva :- Then Brahma named Shiva as 'Rudra' which means 'weeper'. Even then Shiva did not remain silent. So Brahma gave him another name but Shiva did not like the name and still he did not keep quiet. In this way, to silence Shiva, Brahma gave 8 names and Shiva was known by 8 names (Rudra, Sharva, Bhava, Ugra, Bhima, Pashupati, Ishaan and Mahadev). According to Shiva Purana these names were written on earth. There is also a mythological story of Vishnu Purana behind Shiva taking birth in this way as the son of Brahma. According to this, when the whole universe including the earth, sky, Hades was submerged, there was no god or creature except Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh (Shiva). Then only Vishnu was seen lying on the surface of the water on his Sheshnag. Then Brahma ji appeared on the lotus umbilical cord from his navel. When Brahma and Vishnu were talking about the universe, Shiva appeared. Brahma refused to recognize him. Then, fearing Shiva's anger, Lord Vishnu gave him divine vision and reminded Brahma of Shiva.
Brahma realized his mistake and asked Shiva for his blessings to be born as his son. Shiva accepted Brahma's prayer and granted him this blessing. When Brahma started the creation of the universe, he needed a child and then he got the blessings of Lord Shiva. So Brahma did penance and the child Shiva appeared in his lap in the form of a child.Himavant, the king of Himalayas and his wife Menadevi were devotees of Shiva. His wish was to have a daughter who could marry Shiva. Menadevi started severe penance to please Shiva's wife Gauridevi. For many days she kept doing penance without eating and drinking. Gauridevi was pleased and promised to be born as Menadevi's daughter.Gauridevi gave her life by jumping into the fire. After this he was born as the daughter of Menadevi, who was named Parvati. When Parvati started speaking, the first word in her mouth was Shiva. Growing up, she became a very beautiful girl.
