No Pakistani man was expected to wake up to the sad news that a woman had been brutally abused by a mob of men who also celebrated independence that month, but that is exactly what Pakistan has seen.
In a horrific incident, Ayesha Akram was humiliated and tortured, and she was robbed in Minar-e-Pakistan by about 400 men. He was shot, attacked by a mob at noon, and apparently, no one tried to rescue him.
Ayesha's video of being insulted, assaulted, harassed, and spread on social media. The tragic and traumatic part happened on the day of Pakistan's independence. But how did it all start?
Who is Ayesha Akram?
Ayesha Akram is a well-known TikToker based in Lahore. He made videos on TikTok, and that’s why he’s famous for it. Akram went to Lahore's Greater Iqbal Park on Independence Day with six of his friends.
He was filming and taking selfies with his friends during the horrific incident. The video has spread like wildfire on social media, and after just three days of a man in a state of shock, everyone is expressing concern for women's safety.
Incident
According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at Lorry Adda police station by Ayesha Akram, she and six of her friends were filming a video near Minar-e-Pakistan when about 300 to 400 people attacked them.
In the complaint, Ayesha said the crowd was large, and people measured the fenced area coming towards her. The men kept pushing and pulling Ayesha until she took off her clothes. According to Ayesha, many people tried to help her escape from the crowd; however, the crowd was ‘too big and kept throwing her in the air.
Case
The FIR is registered under sections 354 A (assault or the use of criminal force on a woman and stripping her of her clothes), 382 (theft after preparing to cause death, injury or restraint to commit theft), 147 (violence), and 149 (illegal assembly) of the Penal Code.
In this regard, Lahore DIG (Operations) Sajid Kiywani has instructed the police chief (SP) to take "immediate legal action" against the suspects involved in the incident.
Who is responsible?
In the aftermath of this horrific incident, many people continued the game of suspicion of victimizing its excessive use of TikTok. Pakistan has blocked and revoked the application of TikTok, the most popular in Pakistan, with more than 39 million downloads since 2019 on allegations that the platform spreads 'misconduct' and 'obscenity.'
Some users believed that people attacked him because they thought he was TikTooker, and he should be treated the same way. Some of them advised that Ayesha should not have gone to public places in the first place. Some people also commented that people get what they show; the same thing happens to her, Ayesha added to TikTok, ciitzens expect the same from reality, and many citizens have expressed outrage at the actions of the men in this video.
Many have confessed and wanted to be publicly executed for such a heinous crime so that the girls could feel saved at some point. Similar incidents have been happening in Pakistan since last month, following Noor Mukadam in July.
