This will not occur in the IPL going forward, however the BCCI has not yet released an official statement on this new regulation.

Every year some new rules are being added to IPL. Last year, the impact player rule had a lot of impact in IPL matches. Some people liked this rule, while some people also opposed it. A total of 77 players will be sold in the IPL auction.
