After nine long years, 2,730 private educational institutions have been included in the MP. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced MP affiliation to these institutions at on Wednesday afternoon.

Among the educational institutions under the new MP, there are 1,651 schools and colleges under the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education. Among them, 439 lower secondary schools (6th to 8th standard), 108 secondary schools (6th to 10th standard). There are 887 institutes of 9th and 10th standard of secondary schools, 68 higher secondary schools, 93 colleges (11th and 12th standard) and 56 degree college
Besides, 522 technical educational institutions have been included in the new MP. Among them, 62 are agricultural institutes, 48 are vocational (independent), 129 are associated vocational institutes, 175 are BM independent institutes and 108 are BM affiliated institutes. The teachers and employees of the educational institutions that are affiliated to the MP get the main part of the monthly salary and some allowances. Last year 2010, 1 thousand 624 educational institutions were included in MP. After that, teachers and employee private educational institutions were protesting for MP membership.
Earlier, Education Minister said in an exchange meeting with journalists at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka, that every year from now on eligible educational institutions will be included in the MP.
The teachers and employees were also on the agitation yesterday to demand that all the private educational institutions which were recognized under the old rules should be MP by canceling the new policy of MP membership.
