If it was Arturo Roman from Money Heist who was hated by the world in 2020, this year Nate Jacobs from Euphoria has been getting on people’s nerves.
Ever since Season 2 of Euphoria was aired earlier this month, people have been wondering who can annihilate the toxic character in the American teen drama series. Despite getting beaten up black and blue in the very first episode of Season 2, Jacobs recovered quickly. It seems like the hypermasculine high school jock always makes it through safely without facing serious consequences.
Now, the internet has taken it upon itself to nominate the person who can handle the manipulative character without any redeeming qualities. People are putting their bets on savage characters from across pop culture.
Some believe Pooja Mishra can do away with Nate just like she kicked a dustbin in Bigg Boss 5, while others are putting their bets on Lily from Modern Family. Some also think that Gopika from Tera Mera Saath Rahe (who is the new and confident avatar) can annihilate the high school athlete. Another popular contender whom people think can put Nate in line is Amy Dunne from Gone Girl.
Euphoria, an HBO teen drama created and written by Sam Levinson, was released in 2019. Its much-awaited second season premiered on 9 January this year and new episodes are aired every Sunday (Monday, 7:30 am in India) on HBO. The show has gained popularity for its realistic portrayal of drug, LGBTQI issues, complex coming out of age narratives, and its brooding but glittery dream-pop aesthetic.
Throughout the teen drama's first season, Nate acts out as a possessive and malicious individual. Not only does Nate physically his girlfriend Maddy (Alexa Demie), but he also breaks into Tyler Clarkson's (Lukas Gage) home, blackmails him, and beats him to a pulp.
From the moment he appeared on-screen in Season 1 of Euphoria, viewers knew Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) would be one of the worst characters. Ever. Throughout the teen drama's first season, Nate acts out as a possessive and malicious individual.
What did Nate do to Jules in 'Euphoria'?
In the series premiere of Euphoria, Jules is the new girl in town. To become more acquainted with her future classmates before school starts, Kat Hernandez (Barbie Ferreira) invites Jules to a party hosted by college freshman Chris McKay (Algee Smith).
Before she goes to the party, Jules decides to meet up at a motel with an older man — turns out its Nate's dad — to hook up. Once at the party, Nate drunkenly harasses Jules until she leaves with Rue (Zendaya).
In the following episode, viewers catch a glimpse into Nate's upbringing. Eleven-year-old Nate discovers his father's collection of self-made tapes displaying him having with gay men and trans women.
Eventually, Nate finds and steals the video of Jules with his father, and thus, his plan to ruin Jules' life begins. Remember "Tyler," the random jock Jules started texting in Episode 2? Yeah, he turns out to be Nate all along.
Though viewers know "Tyler" is Nate, Jules doesn't — it was so difficult and upsetting for us to see her in a catfishing situation and send provocative photos of herself because the pictures could come back to bite her in the end. And unfortunately, that is exactly what happens.
