PDR Palanivel Thiagarajan
The finance sector is an important sector in the government sector. Unexpectedly, Chief Minister Stalin presented the PDR #Palanivel #Thiagarajan, the third generation MLA of the DMK, who is well-educated in the finance sector. PDR adopted the new system during the filing of the interim budget for the financial year 2021-22. The budget, which has so far been filed in paper form, was first submitted in digital form. In addition, PDR released a white paper on the debt burden of the last 10 years of #AIADMK rule.
PDR has done a great job of not releasing funds for unnecessary expenses and not getting caught up in controversies related to commission and collection. However, it is noteworthy that PDR has been embroiled in some controversy, such as ‘he is in the mood to know everything’.

If there is one man of controversy in the DMK #regime# it is #Senthil #Balaji. The murmur arose when Balaji was assigned two important departments, namely the electricity department and the anti-alcohol department. However, no one could resist Balaji as he was loyal to the top and gave more than he asked for. His ‘power’ soared within the party as he gifted the local elections in the #Kongu region to the party. Meanwhile, the #Tasmag bar tender affair punctuated Balaji’s name.
The problem of power outages is most prevalent in the summer. When Balaji handed over the power cut to the Union government, there was a backlash from the BJP. Due to the shortage of coal at the national level, he contracted to import coal from abroad and rectified the situation to some extent. In cabinet activities, the ups and downs go hand in hand with #Senthil Balaji.
I. Periyasamy
From the outset, he did not want I. Periyasamy, a senior in the cabinet, to be assigned the co-operative sector. Thus, instead of staying in the government house reserved for ministers on the Green Corridor, Periyasamy stays in a #Mylapore hotel whenever he comes to Chennai. Prior to the Assembly elections, Edappadi, who was the Chief Minister, announced that he would waive the #jewelery loans of those who had borrowed less than Rs 5 lakh from the cooperative banks. The DMK had given the same in its election promise. Investigations after coming to power revealed that he had no credit at all, had borrowed money to keep fake jewelry, and had borrowed multiple pieces of jewelry by himself.
Thus, after a thorough investigation, out of more than 35 lakh, only 6 lakh were found to be eligible #and the government only waived their #jewelery loans. This is a fact that has caused dissatisfaction among most people. Moreover, in 99 per cent of the administrations of the co-operative societies, the #AIADMK #winners were in office. The term of office of those elected in 2018 ends in 2023. As this was an impediment to the employment of DMK executives in co-operative societies, I. Periyasamy introduced an amendment in the legislature to reduce the term of office of co-operative societies from 5 years to 3 years. This was welcomed by party executives.
But so far the governor has not approved the law. There do not appear to have been any other moves in the co-operative sector other than the #jewelery loan waiver.
Next to #Senthil #Balaji, Food Minister #Chakrabarty is in the news. This is due to the #Pongal special package given to #ration #card #holders on the occasion of #Pongal. The problem has arisen since the announcement of the tender for the #Pongal package, which includes 21 items including paste, sugar, #jaggery, sugarcane and cardamom. 21 items were given separately, not in a single tender. It was alleged that the company had disqualified and expelled a company that had quoted a low price in order to be awarded the tender for the company they owed. The problem erupted when everything was over and the special package was distributed. Controversy erupted as in many places the winnings melted down, with 16-17 items instead of 21 items, and in some places no items at all.
