Which Good Deeds Give Us Positive Results?

King’s question:
Once upon a time, there was a king's rule in a kingdom. He often wondered why I became the king. One day he invited the big astrologers of his state to get the answer of this question.
On being present in the court of astrologers, the king put this question in front of them, “At the time when I was born, many other people must have been born at the same time. Why did I become the king among them all?"
None of the astrologers present in the court could answer this question. An old astrologer suggested to the king that a Great person living in a forest outside the kingdom could perhaps answer his question.
The king immediately left for the forest to meet that Great person. When he reached the Great person, he saw that he was eating embers. The king was astonished. But at that time the priority of the king was to get the answer of his question. Therefore, without talking about anything here and there, he put his question in front of the Great person.
Hearing the question, the Great person said, "O King! Right now I am suffering from hunger. I cannot answer your question. There is a hill at some distance. On top of that you will meet another Great person. They will answer your question. You go and meet him."
The king reached the hill without wasting any time. There too, there was no limit to his surprise, when he saw that there the Great person was eating his own flesh by plucking it with tongs.
The king repeated that question before him. Hearing the question, the Great person said, "O King! I cannot answer your question. I am suffering from hunger. There is a village below this hill. A 5 year old boy lives there. He's going to die shortly. Get the answer of your question from him before his death.
The king went to the village and met that boy. The boy was on the verge of death. Hearing the question of the king, he started laughing. The king was astonished to see a dying boy laughing. But he calmly waited for the answer to his question.
The boy said, "O King! In a previous life, me, you and the two Great people, we have met earlier, we were brothers. One day all of us brothers were having food, when a monk came to us and started asking for food. The eldest brother told him that, ‘I will give you food, and so, will I eat embers?’ And today he is eating embers. The other brother said that, ‘I will give you food, so, will I eat my flesh by tearing it?’ And today he is eating his own meat by plucking it. When the monk asked me for food,’ I said that after giving food to you, will I die of hunger?’ And today I am on the verge of dying. But showing mercy, you gave your food to that monk. It is the glory of that virtue that in this birth you became the king."
Saying this, child died. The king had got the answer to his question. He went towards his kingdom.
Lesson- Good deeds get good results. So always do good deeds and help others as far as possible.
