Which Diet Plan Is Best? Study’s Surprising Results

As the old year draws to a close and everyone begins to look forward to the start of the new year, many people are looking forward to the start of their New Year's resolutions. For many people, New Year's resolutions will include vows to limit the amount of food they eat, the amount of food they eat, and the amount of exercise they need to lose a few pounds. The question that always hangs in the air for those waiting for the start of a new diet lies in what foods might be right for them and which foods contain the key to helping them lose a lot of weight. Indeed, there are many types of food available and it seems that every few months a new diet or diet plan has emerged to become an effective new food appetite. Is it possible that all ‘popular’ foods can help you lose weight or are there certain foods that can help you lose weight more than others? This is a question that a team of researchers has set out to answer recently. Within two months, 160 people were closely monitored as they followed the prescribed procedure. A distinctive feature of all 160 program participants was that they were allowed to choose any food that suited their style. Researchers are waiting and looking forward to finding out which foods or foods may be most effective. What they read at the end of the lesson seemed very interesting. The data they collected not only helped them to learn more about which diet programs are most effective for total weight loss but also what diet programs most people are likely to stick to in order to lose weight over time and care. While study participants were allowed to choose their favorite diet plan, the majority of participants chose one of the following: Atkins, Weight Loss, Ornish and Zone. Although preliminary data were obtained only two months later, the researchers continued to study the remaining participants. They found that after more than half of those participants who chose diets based on low-fat and high-fat carbs, such as the Atkins plan, walked out. Additionally, about the same percentage of people who chose the Ornish program, which focuses on low fat and high carb diets, also abstained from their diet. Weight Watchers participants performed moderately, with about two-thirds of the group holding on to it. Zone participants showed similar results. So, what diet plans work best for weight loss? Amazingly, they all did the same. Those people who participated in the Ornish program who were able to adhere to their diet throughout the year experienced a weight loss rate of about 6%; the highest of all parties. Atkins entered at about 4%, with Weight Watchers and Zone performing an average weight loss of 5%. The health risks associated with obesity were a completely different matter; however. In terms of the risk of heart disease, Weight Watchers participants reduced their risk by 15%, while other diet programs went to 12%. Participants in the Ornish diet plan, who showed significant weight loss, showed a lower risk of heart disease, by only 7%. All in all; However, researchers conclude that in the long run, there is no prescriptive drug that will stop the flow of emotions. If you are planning to lose weight in the New Year, your best strategy is still the same no matter what diet plan you choose in the end. Eat a balanced diet, cut back on portions, drink plenty of water, participate in a moderate exercise program, and have a dietitian who will support you in your weight loss goals.
