Which Chair Is Best For Massage?
For a long time, our family has been hunting for a massage chair. My mother not only has spine cancer, but it has now migrated to her hip, and she also has cervical spondilitis in her neck and shoulder. We decided as a family to band together and buy her a chair (they aren't cheap!) in the hopes of alleviating some of the agony. When we went to hunt for an appropriate one, however, we discovered that there were a plethora of possibilities.
First, a little background. Massage chairs first became popular in the late 1980s. They were created to mimic the techniques and motions of a professional massage. The goal was to reduce stress and tension while also assisting in the treatment of back pain. Because of the high cost of manufacturing the seats, which had to be passed on to the client, they were usually out of reach for most people. Now, twenty years later, the cost of creating the seats has decreased, and an increasing number of individuals are reaping the benefits.
Shiatsu and Swedish massage techniques are attempted to be replicated by massage chairs. These two approaches are very different. Pressing, sweeping, patting, and spinning movements are common in Shiatsu. It focuses on reducing stress in certain body locations in order to improve blood circulation, muscle structure, and internal organ function. Swedish massage, which uses lengthy gliding strokes and kneading actions to restore circulation and help muscles relax, is the most effective.
When it comes to buying a massage chair, you have a lot of alternatives. The chairs at the high end of the market have at least two rollers in the back, legs, and arms (some have 4). The chairs adjust to the size of the person sitting in them and detect acupressure points that will be worked on particularly. These high-end massage chairs really memorise the shape of the person sitting in them and then create massage programmes for certain body parts. These programmes will be memorised so that they can be repeated anytime that person sits in the chair again. The disadvantage of these extremely expensive leather-covered chairs is that they are enormous and not suitable for a standard-sized room.
Other things to keep an eye on -
Some chairs feature air bags in the leg area, but these are ineffective unless the legs are rolled and kneaded by motors. They just pinch the legs in the same way that blood pressure is taken.
Arm massagers, claws, or air cuffs could be included: Not only do these add bulk to the chair, but there is no evidence that they do anything but pinch the forearm!Be cautious, because a massage chair may or may not be beneficial to you. What decision did we make in the end? We purchased a simple chair with wooden arms that could be reclined electronically. The coder was simple to understand and operate. It also assisted my mum in getting out of the chair when in the upright position. That way, she can fully relax on the chair with her feet up, maximising the massage's advantages.
