Bitcoin (₿) - The currency of the future?

Bitcoin (₿) is the currency of the future. It has all the money-making characteristics of a regular currency, but it also has some unique ones that make it even more attractive to investors who have the know-how and resources to get involved in this type of currency investing. If you’re looking to expand your investment portfolio into something new, take some time to consider investing in Bitcoin (₿). Here are just a few reasons why you might want to invest in Bitcoin (₿).

How it works

Bitcoin is decentralized computerized money, without a national bank or single director, that can be sent from one client to another on the distributed bitcoin network without the requirement for go-betweens. They are currently traded for fiat currencies. Users can transfer bitcoins to each other over an online ledger called a blockchain; it functions similarly to an international bank transaction. Because it isn’t tied to any country’s regulation, users are less likely to be charged extra fees or have their payment held up.

What about ₿ Bitcoin?

Just recently, a friend asked me what I thought about ₿ Bitcoin. At first, I was a bit confused by his question; wasn’t it just an alternative way to pay with Bitcoins? Then he enlightened me: You can’t use ₿ Bitcoin anywhere! he said. He was right—at least not yet. But that might be changing soon. Some stores and online businesses are beginning to accept ₿ as payment in their transactions. Even if they aren’t doing so now, you may see them offer support for it down the road. So, what is all of this talk about an alternative payment method for Bitcoin? Let’s take a closer look at what makes up ₿ Bitcoin and whether or not it has a chance in catching on as an accepted form of payment on its own merits.

Is it secure?

While bitcoin transactions are more secure than regular transactions, they're not entirely safe from threats to their security. For example, if you receive bitcoins from someone and then lose your private key—the secret number that lets you spend them—you can't recover those bitcoins. You may also be a victim of theft by hackers who target exchanges or online wallets. If you send money through an unsecured channel—such as email or text message—there's no guarantee that it will reach its intended recipient.

How do I get ₿ BTC?

You can buy ₿ BTC at any bitcoin exchange. If you’re wondering how to get ₿, just ask yourself: what is Bitcoin worth in U.S. dollars? Then go find someone who’s selling it for that much or less. You can also use your own computer to mine new ₿, but today that process requires more time and effort than it’s worth.

Can I buy goods with ₿ BTC in my country?

So, what about Bitcoin (₿)? Can you buy goods and services with ₿ BTC in your country like you can with normal money? And if so, how much do these ₿ BTC-purchased goods cost compared to how much they’d normally cost in fiat money terms?

Where do I store my ₿ BTC?

There are a lot of ways to store Bitcoin, but not all wallets were created equal. Here are our favorites. Web-based: GreenAddress and BlockChain online stores give you full control over your ₿ BTC, including multi-sig addresses for added security. Mobile: Jaxx is one of my go-to apps for iPhone and Android that supports ₿ BTC and many other cryptocurrencies with an easy-to-use interface across devices. Desktop: Electrum is another great wallet with support for ₿ BTC built-in.

How much is ₿ BTC worth today?

Well, that all depends on who you ask. There are those who believe that a single ₿ BTC will be worth millions of dollars per coin in a few years' time. Others are convinced that ₿ BTC is an unstable, bubble-riddled asset class and should not be trusted with any money at all. And then there are those that think it's only realistic to see ₿ BTC trading for several thousand dollars per coin by 2020 or 2021. No matter what side of the fence you fall on, it's hard to deny bitcoin’s popularity as one of today’s most divisive economic topics.

Is there a limit to how many ₿ Bitcoins will ever exist?

There is a limit of 21 million ₿ Bitcoins, which will be reached by 2040. However, it’s important to note that Bitcoins can be divided into 8 decimal places, meaning there are a hundred million units in one Bitcoin. So even when we run out of coins, we could still potentially have 2 quadrillions ₿ left! That being said, most people won’t be using hundreds of quintillion ₿ for their coffee and donuts.
