Body of the article:
At one time or another, we have all experienced the effects of sunburn - either minor burns or severe burns.

While the pain of regret about not having enough protection (from UV exposure) can be a very good incentive to plan carefully for the ‘future’, it does not help to alleviate the immediate physical pain associated with sunburn.

However, if you find yourself spending too much time in the sun, - here are 4 natural remedies to help alleviate the pain of sunburn, and help with your body's healing process:

No: 1. Cool Milk Compresses: - Oils and lactic acids in milk are known to have cool properties on sunburned skin. Rub a soft cloth or cotton gauze in cool milk, and then gently rub over the burnt skin. Do this for about 20 minutes, followed by a bath with cool water. (Due to the importance of the fat content of milk, whole milk must be used in this treatment).

No: 2. Cool, sugar-free tea: - Tannin in tea is an active ingredient here, which helps to soothe and alleviate some discomforts of sunburned skin. After making a large pot of tea, and letting it cool completely, rub the affected areas with a soft sponge or bath towel. Like vinegar (4), you can refill the spray bottle, and spray the tea directly on the skin. And do not throw away used (cool) teabags. These are especially good for sensitive areas near the eyes - just put tea bags over your eyes when they feel hot and tired. (If you have ‘St. John’s Wort’, consider using this as it contains cooling features, which can help reduce some heat on your skin, as well as soften the emotional effects of sunburn).

No: 3. Aloe Vera: - Aloe Vera is commonly used to treat sunburn. As well as providing cool relief, it may also aid in the healing process. Apply to affected areas as needed. Although the gel extracted directly from the aloe vera plant is very effective, if you do not have access to it, you can use an Aloe Vera Cream ‘counter’ containing the gel. For this to work, just make sure the cream contains higher Aloe Vera than water or other solutions.

No: 4. Water: - When exposed to the sun, your body loses its body fluids and salts. Dehydration occurs when your body loses a lot of fluid, and you start absorbing fluid from the blood and other tissues. To prevent the effects of dehydration, increase your hydration to ensure that you give enough water to your body to recover and stay healthy.

Sunburn should be avoided where possible - especially as it has a negative effect not only on the skin ;but also increases the risk of skin cancer. Prevention and protection should always be considered the best treatment for sunburn, and it will help you ensure your best long-term health!

DISCIPLINARIAN: These are just home remedies tips, and should not replace your regular healthcare provider. If you have any doubts about your sunburn, please seek appropriate medical help.
