There was a king who loved painting very much. Once he announced that any painter who made him a painting that depicts peace, he would reward him with a face.
On the day of judgment, more than one painter with the desire to win the prize reached the king's palace with his own pictures. The king looked at all the pictures one by one and got two of them set aside. Now one of these two had to be selected for the award.
The first picture was of a very beauty calm lake. The water of that lake was so clear that even its inner surface was visible. And the image of the icebergs surrounding it was emerging on it as if a mirror had been placed. Upstairs was a blue sky with white clouds floating like cotton balls. Anyone who sees this picture would think that there can be no better picture to show peace. In fact, it is the only symbol of peace.
There were mountains in the second picture too, but they were completely dry, lifeless, deserted, and over these mountains there were thick thundering clouds in which lightning was shining… the river was in spate due to the heavy rain… the trees were shaken by the strong winds… and the hills The waterfall situated on one side of it had assumed a fierce form. Anyone who sees this picture would think that what has it to do with 'peace'… there is only unrest in this.
Everyone was sure that the painter who painted first would get the prize. Then the king rose from his throne and announced that he would give a face-to-face award to the painter who made the second painting. Everyone was in awe!
At first the painter could not stop, he said, "But what is it in that painting that you decided to award him… when everyone is saying that my painting is the best to depict peace?"
“Come with me!”, the king asked the first painter to accompany him. Reaching in front of the second picture, the king said. Look at this tree bent to one side by the wind on the left side of the waterfall. Look at that nest built on its branch… look how a bird is feeding its children with such tenderness, so calm and loving
Then the king explained to everyone present there, To be calm does not mean that you are in a situation where there is no noise… there is no problem… where there is no hard work… where you are not tempted… It really means that you are in the midst of all kinds of chaos, disturbance, chaos and still you remain calm, stay focused on your work… keep moving towards your goal.
Now everyone understood why the king had chosen the second picture.
