Have you ever thought where your waste goes? Where do all the bottles which you usually dump out after single use goes? Where does all the used sink water goes? Where our the household waste which we throw in the dustbin goes? How we are drinking our own wastewater?
These are the questions, that struck in every mind always sometime in their life. But, I am here to answer your doubts regarding the subject.
Before talking about the waste of the world, we should know that waste is not just waste, it includes metals, plastics, wood, and sometimes many beneficial things. It is very useful in terms of making gas, recycling, and reusing. Many countries are taking huge benefits from it.
HOW IS HOUSEHOLD WASTE DEALT WITH?;
We make every day almost a total of 2.24 billion tonnes of waste and 0.74 kilograms per capita.
The trash collector collects all the trash early in the morning. And dump it on one point, from there the real process begins. First, they separate plastics, metals, wood, and other useful things whatever they see. And useless things.
Plastics, metals, and wood can be recycled or reused, but not all the time it happens. Sometimes some plastics or something else is useless for the government but not for the homeless people, in most Asian countries homeless people still earn their keep by selling useful things after finding that from the scrab. And it is not prohibited by the government.
After the separation, according to the average estimate, 75% of waste is useless and end up in landfill, 25% goes for recycling and all human sewage has a separate mechanism which we will discuss later in this blog.
WHAT IF THE COUNTRY DOESN'T HAVE LANDFILL;
But the considerable thing is that all countries do have landfills?. The answer is unique. Almost all countries have landfills, very few countries are there. Who do not contain landfills, they can be counted on our fingertips including Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and others, but they are very few in numbers.
They actually do is. Despite landfilling all the waste, they burn them all, this process is called Incineration and the benefit they get is, it required less land space because all waste has been converted into ash. And can be used in any concrete manufacturing industry.
HOW MUCH LANDFILL IS IMPORTANT;
Landfills are a basic need and an important asset of all countries, all civilized countries know the value of landfills in China, the USA, Russia, and other else like. If we look at the stats: China has 644 authorized landfill, the USA has 1250 authorized landfills, and Russia has 7153 authorized landfills.
They help in reducing the amount of waste as compared to on the ground. Because work always goes on in landfills, the workers try their best to fill the garbage into the ground by pressing garbage through heavy machinery. It reduces the shape and size of the garbage.
It helps in preventing disease in the environment because landfills are regulated far away from residential areas, and some side effects possess for that one who lives next to the landfills. However, people themselves don't live here.
It plays a primary role in the cleanliness of the country, because if landfills don't exist where we would dump our waste? Where we would be able to live? Because every point would be giving a picture of dumping point which would be possessing harmful and injurious diseases.
Apart from this, there are also so many merits of it. But the most primary, we have just discussed above.
WHAT EFFECTS ARE MADE BY COUNTRIES WHO HAVE NO LANDFILL;
Those countries that have no landfill posses, so many threats to the world because they want all their waste converted into energy means they want to apply Waste-To-Energy (WTE) formula.
Approximately all the countries with no landfills do the same, they convert 52% of their waste to energy and recycle or reuse the remaining 48% of their waste.
As we know, this process is also known as 'incerination'. Which happens after burning trash, which releases poisonous gas, which affects the human body so badly.
The most unwanted gas produced by this process is 'Dioxin'. which can cause cancer too.
WHERE OUR HUMAN WASTE GOES?
US is making 200 billion plus of human waste daily.
Human waste whatever goes through our house pipeline, including shower water, dish cleaning water, human waste water, or anything else all ends up in the sewage treatment system plant which is installed under the ground.
Human waste in a polite language is called wastewater or sewage.
As far as it's working is concerned, it consists of 7 steps, the following the steps.
•Taking away the wastewater.
•Screening the wastewater.
•Carrying out primary treatment; (removes objects that either float or settle out by gravity)
•Carrying out secondary treatment;
(it is also called biological treatment because it removes all dissolved organic solvent by using aeration and filtration methods along with the use of biological agents)
•Carrying out final treatment;
(the treated wastewater finds its real shape, all the useful bacteria that can be recycled, sinks to the bottom, which distinguishes us a sludge and clean water)
• Generating powers;
(sludge is widely used to generate power, wastewater sludge is a naturally rich source of the nutrients, that plants want like nitrogen, phosphorus, magnesium, and potassium)
• Returning to the rivers and solids to land.
(wastewater ends up as clean water provided it have come through the sewage treatment plant and can be able to drain into any ocean, stream, or lake.But you must know that 65% of drinking hygienic water comes from upper surface water means the ocean and a huge amount of wastewater involves in it, So it can be concluded that we drink wastewater at the end)
SUGGESTION:
There is nothing in this world is useless, all things have some particular purpose, nothing is develop for single use.
Waste can massively change into concrete, energy, clothes, and other. Waste are now exporting to other countries in a vast amount. These are as important. The things mentioned above, were not fully explained they can be futhur explained.
