AGARTALA: Tripura Education Minister said all educational institutions in the state including schools, colleges and universities would open from Monday. He said this decision was taken by the state government in consultation with the directors of the state health and education departments to compensate for the learning losses and mental wellness of the students.
The educational institutions, which would open on "Monday" includes schools from pre-primary to higher secondary schools, colleges and universities. As the schools were closed most of the time of the last two years, the students could not meet their friends also they suffered learning losses, he said.
"The UNICEF recently observed that keeping schools closed is way higher than dangers of keeping them open. The World Bank has also cautioned that the students had suffered a lot and mental health of students had broken down", Nath told reporters, adding that examinations would be held as per schedule.
The minister said many educationists and guardians also asked the state government to open educational institutions. However, he said that appropriate COVID-19 Behavior would be maintained in all educational institutions. The state government had closed schools from January 15 till January 30 following the spike in COVID-19 cases.
New Delhi: All schools and madrassas in Tripura for all classes, from primary to Class 12th, are allowed to function normally with strict maintenance of COVID-19 from 31st January, reported news agency ANI quoting an official statement. The schools have been closed in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, but now with a rise in vaccinations and dip in cases, the state government has decided to reopen them.
The Joint Secretary to the Government of Tripura, Chandra IAS in a memorandum on Saturday informed that the School Education department has reviewed the overall COVID-19 situation across the state. All schools and Madrassas in the state (Primary to Class XII) are hereby allowed to function normally with strict maintenance of COVID-19 appropriate behavior from 31st January. "This order shall be applicable to all Government including Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council", Govt aided and Unaided private schools and Madrassas, "she further mentioned".
100 per cent attendance of students is a must across all the schools of Tripura. A higher official of the Higher Education department said there are no restrictions apart from COVID-19 appropriate behavior norms and 100 per cent of students can attend colleges, professional institutes and universities from January 31.
Earlier on January 10, the Education department announced cancelling classes in schools from primary to class II, attendance of students from class III onwards and higher educational institutions has been restricted to 50 per cent from January 11 and will remain valid till January 15 next. Later on January 15, schools from pre-primary to class VII has been suspended till January 30 while 50 per cent of students from class VIII to XII will be allowed to attend schools on alternate days and with permission from parents due to the upward trajectory of COVID-19 Causes.
During the meeting, the Delhi government recommended reopening of schools. It was necessary to prevent further damage to the social and economic well-being of children, as the COVID-19 situation in the capital has improved.
