Founded in the year 2007, Tech Mahindra Foundation is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Tech Mahindra Limited. We work extensively on the vision of ‘Empowerment through Education’ with three key focus areas – Education, Employability, and Disability to empower all to Rise. We are trying to bring social change and touch lives through our 150+ projects with the help of 90+ partners in 11 locations across India.
Enhancing Employability
Started in the year 2012 with three centres, the Skills-for-Market Training or the SMART Program is our flagship employability program. In the first year of existence, it trained 350 youth through various skill development trainings. The program is progressively expanding to provide skill development training to youth across 11 different cities in India. This skill development training program has been able to successfully bridge the gap between the demand and supply in various manufacturing as well as service industries. The Foundation has been implementing the SMART program by establishing a network of Centres and Academies – both directly and through other partner implementing agencies.
We are now an enabling partner for the YuWaah Organization that supports India’s youth by connecting them to aspirational socio-economic opportunities and engaging them as active change makers.
SMART Academies
The Foundation has been running SMART Academies (since May 2016) with the intent of offering more advanced and longer-term courses in some specialised vocations. At present, the Foundation runs eight Tech Mahindra SMART Academies including four SMART Academies for Healthcare, three SMART Academies for Digital Technologies and one SMART Academy for Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
SMART Centres
SMART Centres train youth from economically weaker sections from urban communities with requisite employability skills through a structured skill development training program, ensuring that they are placed in suitable dignified jobs. The program places great emphasis on foundation job skills such as Spoken English, Basic IT and Workplace Readiness. There are a total of 15 domains and 63 courses that the students can opt from SMART, SMART+ (for persons with disabilities) and SMART-T (Technical) Centres.
EDUCATION
With our vision of ‘Empowerment through Education’, the Foundation has extended its support to various government schools to bridge the gap from streets to schools by facilitating the students with skilled teachers and improved infrastructure. The purpose is to improve teaching-learning experiences with sustainable transformations.
DISABILITY
The Foundation believes that there is Ability in Disability. With the focus on creating an inclusive world and providing a life of dignity and confidence, we are continuously working in the area of education and skill development for children and youth with disabilities, respectively.
COVID RELIEF
The Foundation stepped up to support the communities in emergency and rehabilitation during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are relentlessly working to direct the support towards the most vulnerable population at an exceptional scale and speed to mitigate the risk and impact of this unprecedented crisis.
Rise for Good is our way of life. Inspired by this spirit, our legacy and values, we aim at positively impacting lives. Our purpose is to empower all to Rise and to take steps towards making the world a better place. We try to do this through our programs in skill development, education, disability and COVID relief. Encouraging each one to accept no limits, think alternatively and drive positive change, we aim at achieving the holistic development of society.
