Also, Nxtra by Airtel, a prominent colocation data center in the country, is presently experimenting with the use of energy cells to reduce its carbon footmark and reduce reliance on-renewable energy sources.

At present, Nxtra alone consumes 190MW of power in India, which is suspected to go up to 400MW by 2025 and the company is making several investments around the same.
Nxtra has plans to set up seven new hyperscale premises across the country, with plans to come to net-zero by 2031.
Around 10 of Nxtra’s Bengaluru data centers are presently fueled by hydrogen-ready energy cells. Presently, the company is using CNG or compressed natural gas to power these energy cells. In the future, these energy cells will run on hydrogen, which will exclude carbon emigrations.

The company also specified that a lot of guests, when looking for a data center, will consider Environmental, Social, and Governance(ESG) as one of the primary parameters. With Nxtra’s rearmost enterprise, it seems guests won’t wince down from spending a bit more on a data center with greener operations.
With Airtel, Nxtra believes it has an edge over the competition, where, it can offer both network and tackle structure. And it further allows the guests to have their security programs and also advises them regards the colorful in-house security options.
“The new facility will be one of the largest data centers in East India and will be the gateway to serving customers in and around the eastern region and the SAARC countries. We are investing extensively in Green Energy and our state-of-the-art, carrier-neutral, hyper-scale Kolkata data center will run on renewable sources of energy,” said Rajesh Tapadia, executive director and chief operating officer, Nxtra by Airtel
The ground-breaking ceremony was graced by Babul Supriyo, Honorable Minister for Information Technology, Electronics and Tourism, Government of West Bengal, Debashis Sen, IAS (Retd), managing director, West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (WBHIDCO).
