After ICE and LSD, another synthetic drug has been found in the country. Which is known as ‘DOB’ (Dimethoxibromo amphetamine). Law enforcement says the drug, made in a laboratory like LSD, is also coming from Europe. Many newborns are going through life taking drugs. Nothing is going to reduce the rise of drug addicts. If it continues like this, we will suffer a lot of the country.
The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) recovered a consignment of DOB from Khulna on November 21. Two youths named Asif Ahmed and Arnab Kumar Sharma were arrested. Their accomplice Mamunur Rashid, a courier service worker, was also arrested. A case was filed at the New Market police station in Dhaka over the incident. The DNC filed a chargesheet in the case in January.
Mehedi Hasan, assistant director of DNC's Dhaka Metropolitan North, told Prothom Alo that the two young men from Khulna brought DOB from Poland through an international courier service. He said chemical tests on the recovered signs had confirmed that they were DOBs. By law, it is a Class A drug. This drug has never been caught in the country before.
DNC officials said that after the arrest, Asif and Arnab first claimed that DOB was not a drug. They were collecting buyers by spreading the propaganda that 'Third Eye' is opened in DOB Seban. They have sold it among many in Dhaka and Khulna. Investigators have found information that they were supplying the drugs through a courier service from Khulna.
According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), DOB has been used as a drug in many European countries since the 1970s. DNC officials said they had information that a type of drug, such as LSD (lysergic acid di-ithalamide), was being smuggled into the country. They used to get buyer traps to catch it. Then LSD comes to New Market in Dhaka from Khulna by courier. Five strips or blots of LSD inside an envelope were recovered from the courier company's office. According to the mobile phone number given in the envelope, a young man named Asif Ahmed had sent drugs from Khulna.
After that, DNC officials arrested Asif with 10 blots LSD from his house in Boyra area of Khulna. During interrogation, Asif said that his friend Arnab had a huge amount of DOB in his house. After raiding Arnab's house, DOB recovered 90 blots weighing 128 mg.
DNC inspector Helal Uddin Bhuiyan filed a case in this regard. He said in the first light, DOB was in the paper in the form of blot like LSD. It can be easily sent by courier elsewhere. DNC officials say DOBK is worse than LSD in terms of losses. Dulal Krishna Saha, chief chemical officer of the company, said that the long-term effects of taking DOB are to create physical disabilities.
