WhatsApp is all set to unleash a series of the latest features this year. From number blocking via a quick shortcut to screenshot viewing on a restricted timeline—there is so much in the works for making the Meta-owned app more secure and cool. You might soon be able to set Voice notes or recording as Status on the latest version of the app.

WhatsApp has begun testing this Voice Status spec for its Android users. The reports come in from WaBetaInfo which has supposedly spotted this on the Android update on the Beta version. WhatsApp has been testing such new features on the app’s beta version.
- The new Voice Status sounds like a chirpy thing to add besides the already existing voice messaging feature on the chats. The news seems pretty self-explanatory
- If you are a beta user, simply check for the feature on the text status section of the social messaging app. The app allows you to allow only certain contacts to access the Voice Status update. While this will give you control over the recordings, you also get to be able to discard such recordings before they go public.
- Regarding the process for play pause, the experience is not known to be as seamless as the WhatsApp experience on its usual chats. For regular chats, WhatsApp allows listening to a note even if you close its chat window.
The latest status feature will help people work better with their content and even share stuff such as songs with their contacts. However, there would be a restricted timeline for the feature. The voice note status could only be up to 30 seconds. As for regular status updates, the auto-delete happens after 24 hours. Of course, you can delete the status, and post uploading too.

The meta-owned instant messaging app, WhatsApp has started testing a new feature that will let users share voice recordings as status updates.
Currently, in the beta testing phase on Android, the feature allows users to record and post 30 seconds voice messages that are visible to their contacts for up to 24 hours and can be accessed within the text status area.
The feature which also provides users with more control over their voice recordings by letting them discard recordings before sharing them will be end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that only the audience users specify in their privacy settings can hear the shared voice note statuses.
The new functionality also gives users the ability to delete already posted voice notes for everyone just like it is with other status updates like photographs and videos.
According to reports, WhatsApp has been working on the feature since last year and it will be made available to users in the coming weeks.
To listen to voice messages submitted on statuses, users must be using the latest version of WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is also working on several other features including Chat Transfer a feature that will be used by users to transfer their chat history to a new Android device without using Google Drive.
