Coronavirus (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that spread worldwide last year. Is caused by a newly acquired coronavirus. Older people and those with chronic medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and cancer are more likely to become seriously ill.
All schools have been closed since mid-March last year when the novel Coronavirus hit the nation. Schools have embraced online education as a way to make a difference in the education system. And right now, many states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odissa, Karnataka, etc. They have decided to open schools and colleges in August this year.
The Chief Ministers of the various states have announced that 11th and 12th-grade schools and colleges will be opened at a rate of 50%. Things are not over here as the third wave of covid19 is yet to come.
We all know very well that a third wave of the coronavirus with a delta variant will be harmful to us. People are being vaccinated. But what about children? They have not been vaccinated, and for this reason, the third wave will hit children hard.
The opening of colleges and schools with 50% capacity is still an open invitation to the third wave of the coronavirus. Knowing the truth, the third wave coronavirus will start in August 2021 and reach its peak in September 2021. In Hindi, we have an idiom saying, "AA BAIL MUJHE MAAR." This is what will happen next. And in the event of schools and colleges being reopened, they will be there soon within 20 days to see the situation. Instead of opening schools and colleges, the education department could change their study pattern to be followed by universities. Children have more grasping power; schools can give them homework of doing something practical, better off with garbage, and get involved in academic activities instead of giving them theoretical knowledge.
Schools and colleges should hold events such as debates, presentations and compel individual students to participate. To check whether students are studying online or playing games, faculties can take a quick surprise test with a camera on to check how much they know about the topic. The Department of Education should consider this and award students marks based on their skills, ethics, and knowledge. If this will be done systematically by the universities, students will be more focused at home instead of going to schools and colleges.
