Forms of volunteer work

There are many fields and forms of volunteer work, the most important of which are the following: Formal volunteering: This type of volunteering is organized, that is, the participation of individual volunteers is organized by providing them with a set of guidelines, policies and procedures established by institutions. Examples of official volunteering are;  Volunteering in delivering food to nursing homes, as well as volunteering in some animal care organizations.  Informal volunteering: This type describes all voluntary actions that meet the social needs of the community;  Such as volunteering to serve members of the local community or volunteering to run a local group in order to practice some sports or recreational activities.  Volunteering in social work groups: This type of volunteering is similar to informal volunteering, but the difference between the two types is that volunteering in social work groups aims primarily to bring about changes in society to serve a specific cause. Examples of this type are;  Volunteering in a group related to the environment or volunteering with political parties.  Governance volunteering: It means the volunteering of individuals as members of the board of directors or in the management committees of an organization, such as volunteering as a secretary at a local football club or volunteering as a treasurer in a charitable organization.  Project-based volunteering: It is one of the most common types of volunteering in societies at the present time. Examples of this type of volunteering are;  Redesign the website of an organization or volunteer to write a marketing plan for a company.  Electronic volunteering: This type of volunteering is characterized by the fact that it allows a person to donate his time for the service, in a way that enables him to make a difference or make a tangible change without being present on the ground

Benefits of Volunteering Strengthening Social Relations Volunteering greatly contributes to strengthening social relations between people. Volunteering is an essential pillar in building societies.  It is a way to get to know new people who share the same interests, allowing them to practice and develop their social skills, and volunteer work helps people to stay in constant contact with others, which contributes to protecting them from stress and depression.[4] Maintaining mental and physical health gives work  Volunteering a person brings a set of health benefits to his mind and body, the most important of which are the following: [5] Volunteering helps reduce any kind of negative feelings;  Such as stress, anxiety, and anger, in addition to fighting depression.  Volunteering increases the feeling of happiness, as researchers discovered that helping others gives the individual pleasure and a great sense of happiness.  Volunteering contributes to enhancing a person’s self-confidence, as providing assistance to others and contributing to serving the local community gives a person a sense of accomplishment and pride.  Which makes a person look at himself positively.  Volunteering helps a person to define his goals and directions in life and makes him feel motivated, which makes him passionate about continuous work.  Volunteer work keeps people in good health, as studies have shown that those who volunteer have a lower mortality rate, and volunteer work improves a person's thinking skills, and reduces the possibility of chronic diseases, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
