Passengers onboard Vande Bharat Express discover 'cockroach' in meal; Railway officials respond
A surprised couple encountered a 'cockroach' in the food they were served while traveling Bhopal to Agra on the Vande Bharat Express. The incident has sparked concerns regarding food safety standards on Indian Railways.
The incident came to light when a passenger, Vidit, took to social media on 18-06-24 and shared the discovery made by his uncle and aunt. Vidit's post quickly went viral, garnering over69,000 views. In his post, he urged authorities to take strict action against the vendor to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
Two days after Vidit's viral post, IRCTC issued an apology acknowledging the incident. They assured that a "suitable penalty" has been imposed on the vendor responsible for serving contaminated food aboard the Vande Bharat Express.
In response to Vidit's complaint, IRCTC stated, "We apologize for the unsatisfactory dining experience you encountered. We have taken this matter seriously and have enforced a penalty on the service provider responsible. Additionally, we have enhanced monitoring of food production and logistics."
This unfortunate event highlights recurring concerns about the quality of meals provided on Indian Railways. Earlier this year, a passenger traveling on Rewa Vande Bharat Express voiced his shock after finding a "dead cockroach" in his meal. Similarly, in January, another passenger aboard Vande Bharat Express complained
about being served stale food during their journey from New Delhi to Varanasi.
