Siddhartha Gautama was born the son of a king. He lived the sheltered life of a typical prince, with every luxury he could desire. When he was 29 years old, legend dictates, he was jolted out of his idleness by the “Four Signs”. Here you will find the four sorrowful sights which encouraged him to leave the life of palace.
1. Succession an old man
One day when Buddha was wandering out of his palace he saw an old man who body was bent and teeth were broken. The old man was moving with the help of a stick. Then Buddha asked to his minister about that old man . Minister explained that the old man was very handsome and powerful man in his old days but now his body has become weak as his age gone. He explained that every person turns in an old man after sometime whether he is a king or a simple man. Then Buddha started thinking about himself that one day he will also be very weak and old.
2. A sick person
One evening when Buddha was returning to his palace he saw a sick man on footpath who was crying in pain. Buddha came to know that before someone days that man was very happy and fine. But now he is extremely ill and has suffering from some decease. when he reached his palace he started to think about that ill man and became sad.
3. A corpse being carried to the cremation
One day when Budha was going to out of the palace for recreation he saw that some people were carrying a man on their shoulders. Buddha asked those people that where are they carrying that person? One man replied that this body is dead and being carried to cremation. Every person has to leave his body and this world after death. Every one has to die after some days. Listening those words Buddha again feel very sorrow.
4. A monk in meditation beneath a tree
One afternoon Buddha was going to city and found a man sitting under a tree closing his eyes. The man had long beared and weak body. When Buddha asked to his guard about that person he explained that this person was a prosperous man but he wasn't satisfied with his life, so he is searching peace by meditation and has become a sage. Now he has also left his family and children to live a peaceful life.
Conclusion
He began to think about old age, disease, and death he thought that same things would happen with him. So, hedecided to leave the luxury lifestyle and follow the way of the monk. He felt that he must search the real meanings of life. Thus, one night he left his palace and family. For six years he led an ascetic life of renunciation, but finally, while meditating under a tree, he concluded that the solution was not withdrawal from the world but rather a practical life of compassion for all.
So this is how Buddha turned in a monk.
