What Too Much Color Can Do To Your Hair

Sure, we all want to change our look once in a while, and sometimes that includes changing our hair color. However, there are a few adventurous souls who have taken hair coloring to a whole new level and frequent dyeing has left their hair lifeless and damaged beyond repair. While there are many professional hair dye systems that cause only minimal damage to the hair, many people still insist on buying hair dye from department stores to apply at home. In many cases, this type of hair color causes extreme damage and can turn into a nightmare if you use it too often. You see, hair color is a chemical that changes the texture of your hair. Every time you dye, the outer layer of the hair is lifted so that the color can be pushed into the hair shaft. With each subsequent discolouration, this outer layer becomes more and more difficult to approach its natural and healthy position. It is this layer that will first bear the brunt of hair color damage. It is also this layer that is responsible for the shine and vibrancy of your hair color. If you color too much, the first thing you'll notice is a dull or dry look coming from the roughened outer layer of the hair shaft. In addition to making your hair look healthy and shiny, the outer layer, or cuticle, is also responsible for keeping the color inside. Once it refuses to seal properly, your color will begin to fade and wash out completely over time. Trying to re-dye your hair will only be a temporary solution as the color will always seep through the damaged areas. If you ignore all these signs of damage and continue to dye your hair, you will eventually break the entire composition of your hair strands. At best, the hair becomes brittle and breaks. At worst, it will turn to mush and disintegrate right before your eyes. To prevent all of these dire hair color consequences from becoming a reality, allow enough time between colors for your hair to recover. Try not to make any drastic color changes for at least 6 months unless your hair is short. Also, don't dye your hair from root to tip for every color touch-up. Color the roots only to avoid further damage to the ends. And get these ornaments when you need them.Sure, we all want to change our look every once in a while and sometimes that involves changing our hair color also.
